Nice work! Did you source that orange piping center seat material from ebay or elsewhere?
I bought the fabric at a company called Relicate.com. They had a lot of great products.

Well, it has been a whirlwind of a few weeks trying to complete this 55 for my daughter’s wedding. She wanted to drive off into the sunset in her now 55. It was short lived as I didn’t have time to shake down the engine and it has some problems. Here are a couple photos of the almost finished product.

Sure looks nice! What's going on with the engine?
I finalized the rebuild a couple days ago. Durning the rebuild I found it had new custom domed pistons I added a Delta torque cam and had the head rebuilt. It’s got a Non-USA carb from City Racer and the original distributor and ignitor. I’m finding I have to have an excessive amount of timing to get it to idle, but it’s way too much for running as it pings like crazy. I backed the timing to where the pinging was minimal, but it still doesn’t want to run. I’m also having issues with it suddenly shutting off at idle so I believe I’m dealing with a couple issues. I believe the first issue is I’m starving for fuel. I’ll be changing the filter and will look to see if my tank has an issue. Secondly I think the idle solenoid may be intermittent, or the wire I’m using may be bad.

Please feel free to share any ideas.

With a more aggressive cam what are others setting their timing to?

Thanks in advance
Scott

Pigs and weddings go together!!!

Uh-oh, if the engine is out that sounds serious...
Sorry, pictures were not in chronological order. Engine is still on for now. That being said it was an ordeal getting to that point, the machinist I took it to wasn’t overly attentive to details, cost me time and money cleaning up his mess.

That’s not a good combination.

Were you able to get it through break-in?
Yeah, got through break-in, motor sounds great mechanically. I haven’t started it since I got it home, hope I didn’t cause issue driving it back, probably should have towed it.

Oops double post.
