Temp fix

That is a Skyjacker specific part, I do not know if it will work for other applications.
Yes, I have a 4" softride spring set, but it is about 20+ yrs old!! A AAL should do the trick very nicely.:hillbilly:

Cheers!

This is how I fixed my door latch. I actually just ground and

punched the original pin out, ground it a little, put it back in the hole and held it down tight then hit it with the mig a couple of times. Came out very tight and operated fine. The only reason that I changed it out was that the plastic handle was torn.

Ordered a bunch of stuff yesterday.
Nothing special, but important.

Stay turned.

On another note, the add a leaf for the rear helped out a little. Unfortunately it still bottomed out when I have it loaded down with gear and the family. Further research has lead me to get some longer shackles again, apparently the Skyjacker leaf packs need the longer shackles to accommodate full flex of the springs. While I was loaded for the last trip I checked everything out, the springs were not sagging or flattened out at all, they just need more room to flex.

Aside from relocating the rear spring hanger, shackles seem to be the next best solution.

For the first time since I have owned my 40 the firewall has all the holes plugged, cowl drain tubes are in, and all the grommets are installed.

Today I replaced the clutch master and slave.

Fender apron emblems went on a couple days ago.

Next is the rear hatch weatherstripping and some longer shackles for the rear.

I noticed that my transfer case has a few leaks also. Kind of pisses me off because I pulled it once already to reseal it.

Put you one of those by pass hoses in it...

I forgot who was selling them here on mud.

I already have a bypass hose installed, the leaks appear to be coming from the parking drum, the front output flange seal, and possibly the seal between the t case and tranny.

I didn’t dig too deep into that, I was just underneath looking around and wiping up the drips.

I need to get the shackles and rear hatch done by Sunday, I’m planning on a run up into the mountains on Monday. I didn’t get a chance to get out last weekend.

The fall foliage is rocking right now and the high country is getting snow. It won’t be too much longer before the fly fishing gets slow and I’ll be tying flies for next year.

I squeezed some time in on Saturday evening to get some stuff done, replaced the rear shackles (again), finished the rear hatch weatherstripping, and gave it an overall check.

Spent Monday roaming around the mountains to see how it handles with the longer shackles.

So far it rides perfect now, no noticeable vibrations from 0-65mph, in fact it rides so smooth at 65 that I didn’t notice I was cruising that fast. Hit some forest service roads to give the suspension a workout, not a problem to complain about!

Server won’t let me upload pics......

What kind of shackles are those in a couple posts up? Are they 1” longer than stock? @rkymtnflyfisher

Those shackles are about 4 3/4” pin to pin, they gave a little extra room for the Skyjacker lift to flex out.

Thanks, so they are Skyjacker shackles?

No, I’m sorry, I’m not sure of the brand. They appear to be the Man-A-Fre dog bone shackles.

They are not from Skyjacker though, I picked them up in the classified section a couple of weeks ago.

I have a set of 5 1/4 anti inversion shackles if you’re looking for longer ones.
