I’m having problems uploading pics, it seems like I can only upload pics after I edit them in one fashion or another.

Nothing much getting done on my 40 lately, just enjoying it. I've noticed a new vibration that is more than likely due to the extended shackles, not a surprise. I was actually expecting that.

Been fishing a few times in the last couple of weeks, it would be nice to install a Rod Vault on the top but I'm not sure how far out front it would stick out.

I guess if it wouldn't work I could install it on my Tahoe.

Anyone else have good solutions for rod storage in a 40? Other than breaking it down and stuffing it back in the rod tube.

Or break it once in half but leave it strung up.

That is my method sometimes when jumping from spot to spot, but I'm always worried about breaking a tip, or worse. Ideally I would like something that I could leave my rods in for longer periods. As much as I drive over the river here, it would be nice to leave a rod rigged and ready, that way I could make a few quick pitstops on the way home. Also be able to leave rods rigged while stopping at watering holes and such.

What is the corner-to-corner distance, inside the drip rail?

I just bought a four-piece, 7.5' 3-weight, so I can hide it in my backpack, and I don't have to have that conversation with the mountain cyclists, and hikers on the trail. "Yes, there are fish in there, and I had any luck." Although, my spots average 5ft wide, and 3 cubic feet per second.

I'll take a measurement this evening, I cast a 9' 5wt rod on the big water and an 8'6" 3wt on the smaller streams. Ideally I would like to keep them rigged and out of the way when I'm traveling, and secure when I'm not at the 40.

I just checked the truck, the 40 top is too small, even my rod would be marginal. I really dislike a tapered leader all curled up from being stored in the reel. I barely can reach my roof with a close to stock set-up '75, and I nearly needed the running boards on my '73 with 33s, clearing the fiberglass and having ease of access seems a bit of a stretch?

Maybe I should just go buy a troopy, store the rods inside!
