Shucks Ryan, looks like a a few more beers in your future. Sorry to see that but, good luck and I am sure you can repair that.

I built that piece out of stainless steel...

I like it ^^^ No high-jack intended here..

LoL - Stainless steel rear sill, aluminum tub and galvanized frame...:bounce:

I'm going to take on the same thing you are doing in a year or so (depending on how my band-aid holds up). My rear sill is solid but the "cover" needs attention.

Just 2 cents..Do it right while you have it down that far.

what most people never think is that stainless is steel and can be easily welded to steel.

I am not a welder by any means, but I never back down from something just because I don't know anything about it. No better way to learn.

Do you have to TIG stainless steel to mild steel, or can it be welded with a MIG?

That is the plan, there are more areas that need worked on also, that is why I went this far with it.

Thanks for the info, I have been eyeballing a welder for a while, I am stuck between budget and buying the best while I am doing it. Either a Hobart for a budget machine, or bite the bullet and get a Miller 211.

I had a miller 210 inverter arc/tig explode on me, it was a second hand unit when I bought it and the controller board was twice what i paid for the machine to replace. It was an awesome loud bang! I have a cheap Lincoln inverter now, Chinese built but it has a 5 year warranty and I don't weld at home as much as I did.

The Miller 211 looks awesome. Dual voltage and autoset for around $850 if they do a similar rebate to the one that ended yesterday.

Sent from my SM-G920V

Is that on cyberweld?

The 210 looks like it is an awesome machine, but more than I want to spend.

spent some time

Did a "Little time" myself - Mopery /ˌmoʊ pʊˈriː/ is a vague, informal name for minor offenses. The word is based on the verb to mope, which originally meant “to wander aimlessly” - ....:moon:....:hillbilly: (sorry couldn't resist).

Be happy to round up my M1A-1 Assault scrapper and head your direction. Prolly bring ya a QT of Preston Co branch water too. I's good fer' bed liner removal and what ails ya n' such....Fade to black with Banjer' music in the background.
