I thought I would start in the 25 section first, since most SD40's would be over here. I am checking on having the Aisan Large Window "Blue Plate" remanufactured. I have several SD40's but I do not have one Blue or Grey Plate.

Is anyone willing to LOAN, SELL or TRADE a Blue or Grey Plate so I can start the process. Maybe the question should be asked if this has been tried before. I searched and only found talk about it.

Anyone interested in some Blue or Grey Plates for your SD40's If this works out?

I'll do my best

Splangy, that would be fantastic. Yes of course I will remember you if I can make this happen. You will be rewarded.

I know that there were blue and grey ones, but after doing some research I am still not sure when the change happened. Or was this a model thing? I will try to get both colors done, but I think blue to start with.

Thank you for the help Splangy.

Thanks Ige, I want to start this process soon. I think the biggest problem will be getting the colors right and finding a Paint(Powdercoating)? or other process that will withstand the gasoline bath.

someone told me a couple years ago that landcrusher909 was trying, but when i talked to rob, nothing had come of it, but he may have some info that could be valuable

Thanks, I will get in touch with him and see if he has any information.

Are there actually two colors or is the grey under the blue? Looks like the same color grey.

just from the pics there are 3 styles already, the blue has 2 slots and the 1 splangy has a groove in it, the grey one has 3 slots.

Maybe the one with the groove is just the mark on the glass. Or maybe it's a 2brl large window. I am only looking into the SD40 single barrel.

From what I have seen with my SDs blue face plates ran till 65 then grey after that. The color change most likely coincides with the internal changes that happened to the carbs in 65. Maybe LTP or some one else can verify this.

Regardless I'd be in for a few of each color and I have some I can loan if need be.

Thanks for taking this on Mark!

DUH! most likely the glasss.

bit of a hijack; but regards the glass I think there may be some interest in getting a few square glass repo'd also. I would take 3 and I believe nuclearlemon was looking for one? wondering if this achievable by a glassblower hobbyist? anybody have a mate who does this or any comment/ideas?

@ccpilot - great work trying to get these plates made.

I not back at my junk till xmas so really not sure what plates I do or don't have or variations etc but will have a look at this.

west aussie, I don't think I would be the guy to try the glass, but maybe someone else could comment on that. There is most likely a need for almost as many glass pieces as blue and grey plates.

JP, if you have one of the grey ones that would be helpful. I think Splangy has offered to loan a blue one. I would like to get as close the the original color as possible if this works out.
