If you dont have to fight the fuel tank you are going to be able to make up for the additional height of the BMW seats.

Any info on bmw 3 series seat install? We installed these BMW 3 series seats into a 40 series restoration that we completed in February. They came with power and bun warmers, my favorite seat so far.

I'm welding up a frame today on the drivers side, still working on measurements for the passenger side. The fuel tank is the biggest hassle.
Remedy- - -22 gallon rear fuel cell !!!!!!!!!I have the same problem with the fuel tank being too high. Would you share your design? I can't figure out how to squeeze the seat in, allow space for the huge original steering wheel and still have room for my legs.
I pulled the sliders and hard mounted my BMW seats where the seats mated up with the sliders. This required some custom brackets which I tacked up when I got everything where I wanted it. If I could do it over again I would do two levels, one over the gas tank and hard mount the PS seat, and a frame with a lower height to maintain the sliders on the drivers side.I have the same problem with the fuel tank being too high. My challenge is that I sit on the fuel tank. My truck is RHD.
What I did on mine was delete the sliders and hard mount the seats so the belly of the seat frame was slung down between the bars on the tube frame. This required some custom brackets to reach out to the factory mounting positions which I bolted to the seat, set everything where I wanted it and tacked it in place. It clears the gas tank by 1/2" and is the same seating position as the drivers side. This is going to be a pain to install due to access with the gas tank in place so I plan to mount the seats to the frame then have someone help me put it all in at once.My challenge is that I sit on the fuel tank. My truck is RHD.
Man - you guys are spending way to much money here ... '94 Celica seats from the bone yard ($60). Adjustable lumbar, height, etc. - almost a bolt in swap.

Did you resolve this? I have the same issue, also 6’4”.Guys, my dilemma is about the very limited space between the seat and the steering wheel. I want to keep it original. My BJ40 is a RHD as I live in Southern Africa, so the driver seat is on the gas tank. In the '77 BJ, the seat is fixed and I'm looking for a new setup where I can slide the driverseat back as I'm 6'4".
Any recommendation?
