Looking good! Changing the tires improved the appearance but not nearly as much as painting the grille and headlight surrounds the original color! Gary S

Thanks Gary, yes the old lipstick on a pig trick.

Of course you should keep her - good decision!
I wonder why the tires wouldn't mount?
I am sure you an find a buyer for the PTO winch... How much are you looking to get for the winch?
She is a California Pig?

Video of tires to come. Was asking $800 for everything from pto gear to the winch. It is in Ukiah California. Would be willing to trade for some or all of the following:
Set of welded steel wheels and caps
4spd trans
Disc brake front end
Power steering setup
Diesel engine (toyota, 4bt, fuso, NPR, sprinter etc.)

Did the ratchet strap thing and it did absolutely nothing.

in the middle or on the side like he did?

in the middle, you have to crank it tight until the beads are pressed sharp against the rim. now that you can't get good starting fluid, i use it all the time. starting fluid used to be my way of choice with ratchet strap being used in a pinch

That is me in the video and I tried the ratchet strap down the middle first then tried so flammable liquid and then went home and had a beer. Went back the next day and came up with the inner tube thing... Not elegant but it finally got the tires on.

Looking great! Jesus H, looks like it would have been easier to just pay someone the $60 to mount those tires though. ha! Still interested in riding Cache Creek trails this fall-winter?

can't use flammable liquid, it has to explode. the old ether/starting fluid used to do that, but they changed the recipe to be safe for newer cars and now it just burns. have to have the explosion to blow the edges of the tire out to seat.

Would love to ride! Kids are the limiting factor. I've got a 1 and a 5 year old soooooo I don't get out too much. But definitely keep me in the loop, who knows! What's up with your profile pic?

Yeah, I was kinda scared to ask about Bigsal's picture

Ha ha ha ha ha ha haaaa! That is not me... just for the record. I am a wee bit less attractive than that guy. Just a funny pic is all it is.

Yep I understand the kid thing. Mine is now 14, so she is happy to see me drive away to go do nasty things like ride mountain bikes... without her!

She loves the cruiser though. We ought to go hit Gold Lake some time though. I'd love to roll in there with a couple pigs. Look it up... 4 x 4 campground Gold Lake. Savannah ( my daughter) can babysit. ;p

Here's a shot of me in my natural habitat, wheeling into Gold Lake.

What's next fer the pig?

Just checked out Gold lakes, place looks pretty sweet! We are taking our first family road trip this weekend so we will see how that goes... If the family is ok with 55mph and no ac then we will start planning that gold lakes trip!

Next plans are 4spd swap. To be honest I think I have my wife talked into an fj80 for her car so I am not spending much on the cruiser now. I also need to get my booster rebuilt but the place I called was backed up until the end of September. Other than that I'm just planning a long term goal of a diesel swap. Looking into options and the shopping... Might take a year or two... Or more!

Just bought a wrecked fj60 for the 4spd and disc brakes. Looks like there is no stopping now. Bought a 4runner with blown head gaskets (shocker I know) and am half way through the repair so I will have a dd while the pig gets new innards! So excited to have stopping power and synchros!

I run a 60 knuckle set up and trans xfer in my 73. You are going to love it.

Mel, ADD moment, but do you have details anywhere of what tie/relay rods you are running?
60 knuckles on 55 housing?

55 housing
60 knuckles out
55 rods / ends
60 steering arms with sb0 starter bushings
55 booster master w front residue valve removed
