Hey mate. Sorry for the delay. I’m a newb with auto mechanics (bought this 80 with conversion already in and working). Can you circle the intake pipe your referencing in the pic above?
No worries! I've been scouring the junkyards looking for an OEM solution. Reducers and aluminum pipe work; I just think an oem intake pipe with just the right shape and diameter would be simple and durable. Any info would be awesome.

Perfect thanks.
This conversion uses the Marks 4WD kit, and I have receipts for the products if you want me to delve further (but will need to know specific terms to look for).

Photos attached of branding/markings.
Pipe is in two sections:

Section with MAF sensor:
ACDelco
15900023 w honeycell
15900024 w/o honeycell

Section from MAF to engine
LS2
>PP-T20<
92121940

Hope this helps 👍

Stole this from earlier in the forum, can someone enlighten me if I need this relocation late ? Or will an earlier t case shifter work ? I have both for the HF2A, or is this plate necessary and where will I find it ?

Started a thread about my FZJ80 Gen V GM swap (Project Wintergreen - '97 FZJ80 Gen V 6.2 Swap - Richmond, VA - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/project-wintergreen-97-fzj80-gen-v-6-2-swap-richmond-va.1339191/) as a sort of companion thread to the Project Sparkles Gen V LT Swap (Project "Sparkles"-1997 LX450 Gen V 6.2 Swap - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/project-sparkles-1997-lx450-gen-v-6-2-swap.1328684/). Lots of stuff is just basics and specific to using Tor's kit and the Swaptime Muscle Car Module, but hopefully some of it's useful to someone.

One big place where I am stuck / paused is thinking through the air conditioning amplifiers (Project Wintergreen - '97 FZJ80 Gen V 6.2 Swap - Richmond, VA - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/project-wintergreen-97-fzj80-gen-v-6-2-swap-richmond-va.1339191/post-15492564). If anyone's a whiz with this stuff or has trial 'n' errored their way through it, would love some advice.

Im looking to do a v-8 swap to my 1992 fj80 with the 3fe ( currently has oil in coolant) looking at prices for a reman are anywhere from 4500-8000$ and figured for that price I could do a v-8 swap for abround the same…..

Ive been doing alot of research but most threads I find are for LS swaps which Id like to do but seem like alot of work…
This is what im looking to do I know probably not the best but I feel like itll be little less fab work and more to my skill level…..

1. 350sbc with EFI sniper kit mated to my a440f
only fab work would be cutting off motor mount and welding new ones in place, and of course all the custom accessory mounts hoses etc. I know the 440 is capable of handling it but couldnt find much info as to kickdown cable brackets and if there was anything else that I would need to do to make trans shift decently besides upgrading internal parts?? Also if anyone knows of any threads with detailed info I could read…

2. 350 tbi with 700r4 trans mated to stock hf2a which I know most swap out xfercase for a fj62 splitcase…

However i was wondering if I can just use the fj80 hf2a which I pln to install the Marks part time kit a d Aisin hubs will the adaptor from AA work pn# 50-8904A

Also was wondering if anyone had some advise as to what engine I should go with one that would work better then other ones?

Or does anyone know of a complete kit that will work with the FJ80

Cant seem to find any detailed threads on the 80 series if anyone knows of some that would awesome… Im doing my homework but figured it wouldnt hurt to ask for some assistance…

Thanks in advance.

See the above post and the links to the main threads. Start with Sparkles.

Tou talking about the ones like 3 or 4 post above this one those are all for LS swaps Unless I missed something but as of right now not trying to go that route…

Thanks
for that but his swap is going to be quite different from what Im trying to do

From what I’ve seen, most likely you’ll have to make some sort of bracket.

I used a 4l60e and the marks transfer case adapter on my 97 and I needed to source an earlier shift lever and make a custom plate to relocate its location. It wasn’t too bad.

The metal plate in the picture came with the adapter and the bolt pattern matches the earlier shifter, but it doesn’t put the shifter in the right place.

The acrylic template was my attempt to find a location that would work with the later style shifter I already had, but the biggest problem with the later shifter is actually the height of the base; way too high and no good way to lower it. ***I also learned you can’t drill into acrylic with a regular drill bit, it will immediately grab the work piece and crack it. I would later learn why after watching a video of Adam savage talking about forstner bits.***

The only way to really know is when you get your specific adapter and measuring.

The 93-94 tcase shifters use a very different base from the 95+ so it's hard to make a mount that works for everyone.

I make HF2A/V shifter mounts for NV4500's. They ditch the 4 bolt base completely using any 91-97 shifter in a new billet housing that bolts to the NV4500's top shift plate.

I've been watching 80 series LS and LT swaps for awhile and haven't seen anough standardization across swaps done by individuals to feel like I could make a tcase shifter more than a handful of people could use.

I don't think anyone makes a complete ls swap kit for the States yet; just engine mount brackets on their own.

From the 2 other alternatives you mentioned, it seems like you're comfortable with welding but not with electronic fuel injection wiring. I can say after doing a Gen III LS swap that the wiring is not that bad. There's a crazy amount of information out there. If you get the engine, engine computer(pcm), and gas pedal from the same source it keeps things very simple. The other wiring is just getting power to the pink wires with KEY ON, ground the black wires(not directly to the battery), radiator fan wiring, fuel pump...

The biggest obstacle I found is actually TIME. It took me about 3 months working part time to get it running. This was my first LS swap and finding the right info and parts(ordering/test fitting/going back to napa/going back home/back to napa...)

Eventually I might do a build thread but I installed a 6.2L, 6L80E from a 2014 Camaro into my 1996 LX450. It runs great and is a blast to drive.

An important part of getting this project finalized is the tuning. I asked permission to post here but I used Justin Carpenter at JTCtuning in Texas for remote tuning. jtctuning@gmail.com You need Hptuners but basically you email tune and log files back and forth until you are happy with the tune. I was new to Hptuners but Justin explains things well so it was easy to log data and upload tune files to the engine and transmission computers. He got the shifting dialed in and engine parameters great after just a few iterations.

These swaps are pretty common now but here are a few highlights of mine.

-6.2L L99, 6L80E from 2014 Camaro with 45k miles
-Speartech harness with cruise, tap up/tap down, neutral safety, reverse light output
-Engine computer mounted behind dash to right of glovebox
-Dakota Digital SGI-8E for tachometer
-Dakota Digital GSS-3000 for gear position dash lights
-Marks 4wd transfer case adapter
-Cruiser Matt 80 series engine mounts
-Torfab airbox
-Electric fans from same Camaro with BP automotive fan controller
-Reconfigured accessories with brackets from 2002 Tahoe and Dirty Dingo idler relocation
-Cruiser Matt throttle cable delete plug
-Tap up/tap down rocker in place of old O/D switch on shifter
-Mosley Motor high pressure power steering hose, for 60 series but worked on my 80
-Cruiser Matt AC hose and adapter kit with Vintage Air 11086-VUS switch for fan control

tucken72, love your swap. Question on how you set up your TorFab air box. I recently installed one in my swap but I haven't quite figured out how to fab up a plate from the passenger side inlet to the fender. I can't really see what you did, but it looks interesting. My concern is the stock fender intake pipe is not 4", which the rest of my intake for the 5.3L most certainly is. Curious how you solved the problem! Thanks!

Tor seems to say that you don't use one. Apologies if I'm jumping in midstream and @tucken72 has worked out something better.

I installed the same box and went into the fender well and just pulled out the plastic + chipmunk nest in there.

Our air boxes have an open to the fender design and you can choose to add a plate fitted for a high flow snorkel application at the customers. We recommend a 4″ snorkel to be fitted on the snorkel plate. Fabrication would need to be the responsibility of the customer and be different for each vehicle based on snorkel and application. Interesting, did you fab a plate to go from the side of the airbox to the fender well or just leave it open with the filter exposed? That was my plan but I had a tuner riding with me the other day and he said my intake temps were getting a little high, so if I was able to pull air from lower in the fender it might work out better. I can just leave it open as well, but I will probably pull the squirrel nest thing (which I assume means removing the fender). Regardless, love the air box. It's very nice!

Don’t need to remove fender. Not at a stage yet to tune, so tbd.

Alright im goikg to do a little more digging and reading on the ls swap and see how much different it will be…

If I go this route i would go with the 5.3l 4l60e to my current Hf2a
Got two questions for those that are familiar with this kit
1. Will this work with my 92 xfercase
2. With this kit could I also use a 700r4 trans says its the same but want to make sure?

You can do a bare bones lq4/4l60e swap. Then add more integration as you wish. Just order a ls swap harness and hook up power to it and a speed signal.

@msikk , It was very hard to get pictures but here is the best I could do. When I bought the air box from TorFab, I added the blank optional plate to the order. I cut a round hole for the snorkel tube and a rectangular hole that pulls air from the fender area. I don't remember the exact numbers but I did the math so the combined cross sectional area between the two is much larger than what a 4" round would give. I then welded on studs, machined a knurled nut, and made a metal door that can be moved over the open rectangular hole in the event of a deep water crossing which doesn't happen very often for me. When that happens intake air will be restricted to the snorkel. It is really hard to see but I welded a thin bar at the bottom where the rectangular door drops in and then it is slotted up top where the knurled thumb screw fastens it. Hopefully that helps and feel free to message me if you need more information.
