Maybe I'm just slow but I have skimmed thru this thread and the other recent 16 page shock/spring thread and I would like to get in on the limited group buy but still have a couple questions?
Will the slinky 50mm coils be available in the heavy/touring version or will the standard version support extra weight over stock? I'm only planning on running skinny 33's so I don't really want more than 2" lift but I do plan on adding some weight. Slee front bumper with winch, 4x4labs rear bumper/tire carrier, sliders, rtt, arb fridge, 2 passengers, 3 60lb dogs, + roughly an additional 300lbs of gear. Also will some Icon's be available that won't require extending the bump stops @ only 50mm of lift?

That was something I wondered too about the plates. From all the reading I have done I would guess Slee caster plates? Would most agree with this? I really like the concept of the Landtank plates but they seem to be more adequate for 4" of lift from the looks of it.What caster correction plates do people reccommend with the 3" intermediate lift. Also i want to replace all the bushings front and rear. Should I go OEM, OME or other. Thanks
The Slinky Long Travel is designed for *overland* style trucks, many of which are carrying more weight with bumpers, winches, fridges, drawers etc. What is better about the Autocraft Slinky/Icon set-up when compared to the IconVehicleDynamics Kit... specifically the stage 1 kits by each brand?
I can understand sticking with something that works for you. Kinda like the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" idea. At the same time, someone may not know what they're missing until they experience it. That was definitely the case for me. The OME stuff I had *worked* and I had no real complaints because I didn't know what I was missing. I took a few people for a ride with the new slinkys during Cruise Moab and every one of them said "ok, I'm getting some" within less than a minute.I have ran a fair amount of different suspension combos on an 80, OME mediums and heavies, MT 2" spacers and OME spacers. OME shocks and Fox shocks. And finally Slee coils. I couldn't find much in the way of OME I liked but once I fitted Slee coils with Fox shocks I was pretty happy. Although I feel the truck needs to retain the sway bars.
Considering the coil can unseat and not seat correctly in big flex situations I see nothing wrong with a retainer, in fact it remedies this problem. And that is all it is meant to do.
I think it is great we are getting some other choices but a soft slinky coil is of no use to me. My truck is to damn heavy and that will not change. In fact the Slee HDP are the only thing that works for me in the back besides an air bag which I have not tried and don't want to try. If these Slinky coils can handle weight I might be interested but the thing is I am happy with the Slee's and tired of trying different suspension. Once I get something I am happy with I tend to not make anymore changes.
Cheers

I wouldn't call the Slinky coils "soft" by any stretch. The name may sound like they're soft, flexy rockcrawling coils, but that's not how I'd describe them. No doubt about it, they flex well and the ride is the best I've personally had in an 80. But keep in mind these have been around for quite a while already in Australia and they are targeted to trucks with WAY more going on than the average US built truck. They're meant to handle much heavier loads than most of us are dealing with. The Stage 1 shocks that I have now are possibly a tad soft on really big hits at high speed and maybe with very heavy loads, but the CDC shocks with adjustability have a wide range to tune the ride, load management. I'm hoping to upgrade sometime down the road to gain the adjustability. The fact that these are being used on 9000lb + trucks makes me think that load capacity is not the issue with these.
Darren mentioned it above, for every 220lbs (100kilos) the suspension will drop 1/2" (12mm). That's pretty good to me. Better than any I've had previously at least.
