I've been wondering about the most advisable forward mount hole shift to use.
I think Daren had said he did 1" at the hole, plus 0.25" with offset bushings?
What do you recommend, now that you've had it for a while, considering movement, clearances - steering, panhard, etc.?
Darren told me could go as far 1.75” before starting to get any interference with steering/panhard. Pretty sure Darren tries to avoid offset (caster) bushings. I do as well and prefer sticking with OEM rubber bushings.
1.25” has worked out really well. Plenty of cloture clearance at the firewall. Straightened out the coil and centered the bumpstop in the coil again. With 35’s it would be perfect. With my 37’s I trimmed a little off the bumper wings and the front of the inner fender well to keep full stuff of the suspension.

Nice. With your 37s, do you think backing off just a little - say 0.75" or 1.0" would "thread the needle" just right at both fire wall and front inner fender well? Or do you still think 1.25" is optimum? Another relevant factor - is your front axle already shifted any due to castor plates?

They are all Slinky kits on the 4xOverlandUSA site
It might say Icon (remember the shocks are built by Icon) but read the description and you’ll see they are Slinky kits. Pictures might not be accurate either (I.e. black coils instead of silver slinky ones). But they are all Slinky parts.

Just got an email back from Mr. McRae; if I understand correctly, to get 50mm Slinky LT you order the 75mm Slinky LT Intermediate kit (either Stage 1 or 4) and indicate in the notes that you're after the 50mm coils. It would therefore seem that the 50mm Icon kit on the website is indeed an Icon kit and not a Slinky kit, I believe.

He also indicated that parts for the 50mm slinky kit were in stock in States at this time.

I don’t follow your line of thinking, how does commenting that you want the 50mm slinky intermediates equate to an Icon kit?

The 50mm kit on the website that says it is an ICON kit, is just that, apparently. It would seem that the 50mm Slinky LT kit is not on the website, as Mr. McRae directed me to the order link for either Stage 1 or Stage 4 75mm Slinky LT to order the 50mm variant, and said to include a note when ordering that the 50mm springs are desired.

Related question - apologies for the intrusion in this convo - but does anyone know what's up with 4xousa.com? I ordered a set of 70mm extra heavies for my 80 almost three weeks ago and haven't heard a peep. Even emailed them.

To get the max benefit, you need the complete kit.

3" HD stage 4 7000lb +on 35s.

I don't know exact weight of Darren's truck but fully loaded I'm guessing he's probably pretty close to that. Drawers etc on the inside, dual fuel tanks IIRC, rack and roof tent now that isn't in the photo.

Pretty similar setup to what I have and I don't have a longrange fuel tank and I'm getting close to 7k lbs fully loaded.

Where did you order from? Who have you been emailing? There has been some changes with the US Distributor and EHO is no longer a dealer. 4xOUSA has been working to handle orders along with setting up the new US Distributor. I'm not part of either aspect, but I can do a little digging and see what I can find out. Feel free to PM me with your name and contact info and if I find anything I'll let you know.

FWIW, my stuff arrived earlier this week already. 🤷

Ordered direct from 4xOUSA on October 19th. Will DM you. Thanks, Adam.

Got the extra heavies (from the heavies) in and man, it sits very stinkbugged now. Assuming they'll settle down a bit?

What was wrong with the heavies that you had? Got any pics?

The heavies swayed a lot in the rear and sagged a good 2" when the rig was loaded down on a trip. The entire truck was boaty because they couldn't hold the weight. Had multiple people drive it and say the rear coils weren't heavy-duty enough. It was very noticeable when driving on off-camber too. There's a steep hill to off-camber in my neighborhood and the EHD coils made the truck feel super stable tonight. Before, the whole thing would sway and teeter.

I took the drawers + platform + fridge out recently to deep clean everything and took the bike rack off and it handled much better. My guess is that extra 200+ lbs alone is too much.

You need to be super heavy to need the EHD’s...what’s your cruiser loaded with?

Land Shark drawers, spare parts/tools/camp gear stays in the truck all the time. (each drawer is probably 50lbs plus the platform)
40g Long Range Tank
Spare 315
RTT
Dometic 50 fridge
Bike rack + bikes (70lb rack, 2 x 30lb bikes) rack stays on all the time.

My shop recommended I cut the coil to reduce its total height by 1/2", the grind/flatten it to match stock shape to lower it 1"

Just curious what people's opinions are.

Here's the truck from a recent trip. This was with a bike on the rear rack, no additional bags or anything, just the standard load. This was just me on a trip and I didn't bring anything extra really, just some warm clothes in addition to what I was wearing. My water jugs were even empty at this point.

Here it is with a lot of s*** in it on a trip up through New Mexico this summer. I don't have a good side profile of it loaded. The biggest thing is when it's really loaded, it's very boaty on the rear.

What I want with the EHD is the same height as the front coils, but an increased stiffness in the rear coils...

Well you do have a lot of weight so the EHD was probably the right choice. Do you have a larger rear swaybar? That helped a lot on mine but I never felt like mine swayed too much with the HD coils.
You could verify with @AutoCraft Aus but the coils can be cut. He has mentioned that in this thread I believe. You’ve probably noticed that the smaller diameter section of the coil fully collapses at ride height. The dual rate transition is the last wind of the smaller diameter as it increases in diameter to the stiffer rate section. You could cut some height from the top of the coil but I would be sure to keep the dual rate transition area.

The EHD coils are actually single rates unlike the HD dual rates. They are designed to be used in a constant load situation like mine where the truck is always packed out (drawers, tools, Tent, extra fuel/water, gear etc.)

I would start by adding a HD rear sway bar (black hawk or white line) if that isn’t enough stiffness, you can also add a front HD swaybar. I believe whiteline/Nolathane makes one.
