I’m in the process of doing this swap now with an H152 with the larger 5th gear and wouldn’t have even thought about tackling it without these guys and this forum. I’ve sourced some great parts from various places and we’ll post my findings soon.

There’s H15X bell housing cover plate, different from auto plate mentioned but with no part #. Has anyone found this and is it available? Can I modify my auto plate? Not much mention of it from all the write ups I’ve reviewed. I specifically have the H152 with the modified input shaft for my FZJ80

Is this the part you're talking about?

From my research it's about the same as the auto plate, but the auto has an additional hole.

I don't really think it's necessary. I don't recall removing one from my 97 auto either, and I did not put one on when I built my new engine and installed a new h151f.
Great, just got back to my buddies shop, no plate on the back of my auto, I couldn’t remember if I removed one or not. Mine is also a 97. How many miles on your rig since the swap? The H151 FSM calls for the plate to be installed pre flywheel but I can’t understand the purpose of this.

The only description I found below is bogus.

I have seen the starter make loud noises when someone forgot the plate on a 3.4 Tacoma. It gives proper spacing for the starter motor and allows you to use the cover plate to keep debris out of your clutch. I'd definitely put one on it is there for a reason.

1135517011 is only applicable to diesel engines if I'm reading the toyodiy parts catalog. Absolutely zero pictures or videos I've just looked up have that on a 1fz.
I think you're right, my bad. Just looked up the schematic for the rear end plate for a Saudi spec LHD w/ manual trans and I'm not seeing anything -

By the way, it’s still available Thanks ikarus! A search by title pulled up nothing. I’m

thanks audi2nr. We’re going to dry fit it just to be sure and take some measurements but I think you’re right. 10k without problems is a good sign🤓

I think the end plate is specific to 1HD/1HZ motors and not 1FZ. I looked into this last year and posted what I found here. Post #129

We took some measurements. The shaft insert for pilot bearing was 25mm deep with 3mm of of margin to the lip past where the pilot bearing is seeded. 3mm to work with is awfully tight even for a rear cover plate. I did find somewhere this plate was listed for the 1FZFE in addition to the diesels from 1990-1998 but as others have said, I couldn’t find application of FSM specifically for the 4.5 petrol so we went without it. Hit me up after a few thousand miles and I’ll let you know how it went 😎

Skter, I’d agree if I pulled one off the auto tranny but there was no plate to start with. I couldn’t find any examples online that a 1FZFE with automatic came with this plate. Could be wrong though.

Progress is going well, tranny, transfer and DL all back in the rear. Closed the NSS loop after cutting auto harness and she fired up. Filled tranny/transfer and engages well. I put a manual transmission ECU in and my tachometer doesn’t function. Works with my original automatic ECU. Any ideas?

Had to cut the transfer case high/low shaft significantly and welded it together. Measures 13cm C to C.

Filling in for some areas that I learned along the way that wasn’t necessarily covered previously in this write up. For you late model 80 series owners, you’ll need to source an older transfer case lever (1990-1994) with a square mount. I got mine used but found it still available.

As mentioned, the rear Driveline needed lengthening by 3 inches and the front shortened by 3 inches. This was pretty tight but we got them in. You should measure flange to flange.

Pick up a female 2 pin connector if you don’t want to cut the OEM reverse light wire on the transmission (see pic).

knarlynick and others used the automatic tranny plate in order to reuse the mounts for the shift console cover and this is a good way of doing it. After a few minutes of deliberation and dry fitting, I decided to go a different route. I drilled out the rear console mounts from the auto plate, they’re brazed on. I then measured the shift console where the two Phillips screws go on the rear side. I then drilled into tranny hump and bolted in the support brackets for the rear. The front two mounts connect to the dash so no mods needed. I then riveted 4 new holes in the tranny hump with M6 rivets. Lastly, relocation of the ABS accelerometer was necessary from passenger to drivers side. I unbolted it from the automatic and eyeballed angle, bent tabs and then screwed it in using sheet metal screws. I think it turned out pretty clean and sealed up the large opening too

Correct - the A442F was on the earlier year 1FZ 80 in NA market.

My 1997 80 is from the general market and has the 1HDT and A442F from factory. From what I recall the 1HDFT auto transmission also had the correct transfer case lever from later years. Wanted to post this up incase someone else is doing a H151/2 swap into a diesel.
