Working through “fitment”. Dialing in the door gap. More to follow from RCLC ref: HT to Aq cowl “how to/lessons learned”.

Like a phoenix, Mule 2.0 is rising..

I was able to spend some quality time today in the shop with the RCLC team. A mild case of upgradeitis was detected and diagnosed. We’re gonna need more cowbell..

Sooo, in the midst of the disassembly, it became evident that stacked up in the remains of Mule 1.0, are some intriguing “possibilities”.

To be continued…..

@Chungas Revenge there is a certain gratification with age and innuendo….once in a blue moon I hear phrases from some very old tv comedies like The Honeymooners, Odd Couple etc. Etc.. makes me smile deep inside…

”more cowbell”…..😁

Not many situations where more cowbell is the wrong way to go.....

Premium unleaded only? Man your 40 does get the spa treatment

I never want to do this again…🙄

Sneaky suspicion the “Mrs” will lay a marital ownership claim to the newly Gentrified Mule (Thanks Mark).
I’ve been eyeballing that stack of parts, pieces and otherwise perfectly good Mule bones, and rolling a semi inspired plan around in my little Infantry head. Storage building has a few boxes of ”I may need that one day” parts too.

Then I made the colossal mistake of lurking in threads I have no business emulating. You see where this is going?

Well common sense and discretion are often overrated, so we’ll see how this pans out. Son of Mule?

Son of Mule? Mules are sterile.

Keep an eye on your postman.

Decent afternoon:

The rear crossmember is from BTB- great piece. The stock crossmember is stamped above the frame to make sure that the rivets don’t interfere with the tub, we’ll make it pretty when the body comes back off.

Good morning,
I'm curious about your process replicating the rivets on your crossmember. I'm installing the same part and would like to use rivets as well. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

As this isn’t a full blown restoration, we used 3/8” rivets but clamped and welded the backside. Once the body is back on the rotator for paint, the crossmember will be welded in the frame corners and at the leaf hangers.

I gotta keep telling myself that..^^^^

Aren’t you supposed to be hunting??!! 😉

If your doing the “Full Monty Resto”, SOR has the rivets in their catalogue.

The project sure looks great for not being full blown. I appreciate your reply. I understand Aqualu is closing the doors in 2024 and I will be needing a 3/4 tub for my 76'. I'm looking into this new product Toyota FJ40 - https://tpautoparts.com/collections/toyota-fj40
I'm not sure if anyone has experience with the quality? I was planning to go with aluminum as well being my restoration will be LS swapped and more of a restomod. I also have a stock 69' I'm doing a patina restoration / drive it now approach.
Keep up the impressive detailed work!
ZFJ40,

I’ve heard that kicked around a couple of times. Last thing I heard from Aq was they were going to be in business.
