any thought on adding coils to the 60 axles?

keeps the correct look and no need for flares.

I think at one point TT had a kit for that, but now he only does in house installs of it because theres a lot that goes into it.

You get better brakes in front and full floater in the rear axle.
There is no need for flares if you get the correct wheel offset.

What wheel offset did you run? I am running an 8.5 inch wide wheel with -10 offset because its the least amount of offset i could get in the wheels i wanted. its pretty much identical to the stock 16x8 -0 stock wheel though. I think 4mm more outward

Rear axle is completely done. Just need to do the front next. Making brake lines kind of sucks.

those brake lines are less then $15 each new from Toyota

I redid them so i could get the Tee on the passenger side of the diff instead of the driver side. On the 60 the hard line comes off of the passenger side frame rail and I was trying to minimize the length of the soft line between frame and axle. Ive got to make one for the front axle too because the 60 only has one soft line that comes off of the passenger side frame rail, but the 80 axle has two soft lines, one for each axle. Going to basically try and copy the fj60 setup.

If these dont work out ill just switch the rear axle line back to stock and just run a long ass soft line from the frame

Dude you're cruising. Looks awesome.

Thanks man, i just wheeled the front axle into the garage last night. Its in way better shape than the front was all things considered. Ive been deathly sick for the past week so the progress has been slow :/

After the front axle is done its basically going to be a crap ton of painting and prepping stuff until i can get some time to cut off the stuff from the 60 frame!

Ive been pretty sick the past week or so, but its clearing up so ive gotten started on the front axle.

The torque gun is too loud

Also, huge thank you for @BurntToast for the replacement knuckle! This one has 50% more steering stop ears and no broken hub studs in it.

that will work

Awesome work!!! Where did you buy your fender flares?

A company called FRP makes them but you have to buy them through a dealer. I used Horizon Early Land Cruisers, but you can also order them through Siege Overland

Get yourself a good diff/axle guy. 1 day turn around is insane. If anyone in the Oregon area ever needs any work done to diffs, Kaiser Performance is the move. Diffs and axle housing straightening is all he does, and his prices are super super competitive.

Have you figured out what master cylinder you are going to use for this yet? The axles are from an ABS 80 series it looks like. Is there a non-ABS MC that can be run? I think the 60 series doesn't have a proportioning valve like the 62's and 80's do. Is that going to be an issue? If its anything like the 80 series you will be happy with the ride when you're done.

For the Master Cylinder Im using the Advics BMT-303 because i didnt know the BMT-044 existed. They are the same body and bore and everything. The 044 has the electrical connector coming out of the rubber cover on top like the 60 has.... the 303 has it molded into the side of the reservoir. I had to get a pigtail and some terminal ends for the 303... The 044 is plug and play. Live and learn!

The 60 series actually does have a proportioning valve, its just mounted under the master cylinder on the front of the booster. It isnt "load sensing" like the 62 though so theres no arm connected to the axle or anything like that. Since the booster bolt pattern is the same, it should just bolt right up!

ADVICS BTM-044
What he said!
