God Bless you guys that do this stuff yourselves!!!!

Sweet looking rig. The older that I get, the less I want to jump In a car. Pretty much the reason I stayed with 33" tires.
man...that battle is real :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Yep! drivers side! Any chance they have a front sway bar and the littel cone rubber things that go inside of the coil springs on the rear? haha

I’ll ask and shoot you a PM. similar damage on his donor. Studs snapped off too

Are those 16" steelies? And that fade stripe. . .looks friggin AWESOME!
17" steelies with lt255/80-17. The stance is proper. It took me a while to find it just right.
Dbbowen can certainly run wider tires since he will be using the aussie fender flare. It will look right.
That stripe was painted at the dealer in 1985. It's the only way it has held up fine.

Let me know what he says. My knuckle has one broken Stud as well. The little arm that attaches to the top was completely bent haha. I had to take it off to get the brake caliper bolt out when I took my cores to Napa! I bought a new arm and new studs for both knuckles if this one ends up working out. Who knows under all of the gunk it might be half way okay

With that much damage I would be concerned with the axle housing being bent !!

I was thinking the same. My diff guy has the stuff to straighten bent axles at his shop. I’ve been doing some preliminary measuring and it seems okay, but I won’t know until I can get it over there. It looks like the tire took most of the damage and it went into the steering arm and steering stop. The wheel on that side isn’t even scratched at all.

Gotta love used parts

Nothing too crazy to post, just cleaning up the rear axle for the most part. Welded on the new rear spring buckets, and painted the hubs, backing plates and axle

I wanted to try something different this time with the paint for the axle housings. I normally just use rattle can semigloss paint, but I tried this Farm and implement paint and brushed it on. Brushing it on allowed me to just lay it down obscenely thick, and its supposed to be a little more durable than the normal rustoleum rattle can so i guess well see how it holds up. It will probably take like a week to dry though

one side is done. Was hoping to have the other side done but one of the upper parking brake springs slipped and rocketed out of my open garage door into the darkness. Hopefully toyota has those in stock locally.

Got the ARB 4.10 diff installed, one parking brake, hub, rotor, and reman caliper with oem Green Aisin pads in. I couldnt find brembo rear rotors so these are just napa ones. The fronts are brembos.

Ive never installed a diff without the paper gasket but the diff rebuild kit and the rear axle rebuild kit didnt come with a diff gasket so im hoping the orange FIPG is okay by itself.

The classic spring loaded yeet into the void….

my 80 axle needs the full parking brake cable, hope I can find it oem.

whats your thoughts on painting the rotor hats? They always seem to flash rust rather fast
I was originally planning on painting these rotors but with the sheer amount of painting i have to do I kinda just said screw it. In the past i had good success painting rotors on my IS300. VHT sells a primer for headers, and i used the primer and top coat and it didnt flake or anything the entire time i owned the car.

Maybe you can find a good used unit? It doesnt look like they sell the whole thing as one piece, but rather a bunch of pieces. I looked up a few of the part numbers and they had them in stock like the front parking brake cable 46410-60570
