60 series 5 speed shift knob options (1 Viewer)

I have a confession to make.

The currently available OEM h55 shifter knob from Toyota is this gray rubber one with an embossed ring.

I hate it.

It’s.....ugly.

I know there are great options from other vendors that replicate the four-speed style knobs from the FJ40/60. That is not what I have been searching for.

Here’s the old one from my HJ61:

I did some searching and found that an OEM Cruiser specific option is still available. It is nearly identical to my old one, just no white letters. The size and shape is correct.

I wanted to pass this on as I had not seen it posted before. This new black one will be headed to my FJ62 when I h55 swap it.

The ones from the 5 speed Hj60’s look pretty good. Another option for people out there.

City Racer has the old school, cool looking, must have 5 speed knob.

Yep. These are all great options if you want an old-school round shiny knob. When my FJ40 gets a five speed, I will definitely use one of Racer’s.

However, this is more to address the ugly gray rubber knob that was the only commonly available rubber shift knob option that I knew of. I prefer this one in my 60 series.

I found a brown 5 speed vinyl knob from a '98 Camry at the junkyard the other day. Color-matched to my FJ62 interior. Now all I need is the H55 transmission

When I installed my H55, I got a cheap Chinese FJ60 5 speed knob and popped out the shift pattern plate. It fit perfect into the old 4 speed shifter knob and only cost $9 shipped. You can't tell its not stock. This was 6-7 years ago before City Racer began to sell his. I would have got with that as it would have been easier but not cheaper.

3rd on the @Racer65 5speed knob , he also sells just the laser etched disc for retrofits as well or repairs

That’s an “OH s***!!” grab handle. Pretty sure they came in the 62 and some of the overseas cruiser models.

Here`s one in my '85 FJ60. Along with the previously mentioned "ugly" gray 5 speed knob.

Still ugly…but last year I bought the first land cruiser I ever drove back in 2013. It was a gray 62 with a h55 conversion, with the tiny shift knob. Despite having non-ugly replacements on the shelf, I drove it like that for a year before selling it.

And I keep a couple of ‘Oh $h!t’ bars around for various projects, too.
