Love seeing that wiring harness. I'd so love to pull mine and get it all cleaned up or swapped for new.
You guys are doing awesome. Keep it up!

Never seems to fail that you take a few steps forward and then one step back. The short version is I am having the turbo gone through. May need a new seal etc. we pulled the cross pipes to do the valves. When running the motor oil is blowing out the intake. Probably should have done this while the motor was on the stand these last few years. Also gonna get the injectors checked out and put in a new water pump while in there. Overlooked flushing the block before loading it with new antifreeze. Popped the radiator cap and there was some nasty stuff in there. Pulled the thermostat and it was consistent. Need to do a major flush. Also note the thermostat was broken in half when I opened it up. Good thing Onur shipped me one the other week. Also been having a tough time with the VSV. Have a post in the diesel section and those guys have been great. Pinned down an electrical issue and fairly certain it's the ground bank on the drivers side. MJ and I saw where some repairs had been done by a PO. We should have listened to our instincts and redid it while the harness was out of the truck. Not too much to pop the dash and pull just that side. Getting a lot of parts serviced so I'm gonna jump on a 80 that im

pulling a drivetrain on. After that I'll wetsand and buff the doors and start getting this thing dried in. Not sure if I mentioned it but MJ and I installed the windshield. Not too bad of a job. Definitely helps having two people. I'll load some pics to show the updates

Discovered a big difference on the deminsion of the valve cover between a bus and truck motor. The rear is a bit more squared off and has less slope. Bottom line is I had to maul the lip on the firewall. Either that or pull the motor forward. Regardless, it's out and the truck one popped right in. Will be putting up n the better cross pipes as well. Really like the power steering resivoir bracket McGuire made for me

So you're sticking with the Cruiser valve cover? That sounds far easier then moving your motor forwards

I'm pretty sure it's cast aluminum which would be tough to weld on

Had to get the turbo redone and decided to get the injectors evaluated. This is something I should have done while the motor sat on a stand for 2 years. Novice move on my part thinking a motor that's sat 30+ years can jump into action. Anyhow, turbos rebuilt and injectors needed some cleaning. Got a new water pump on order from cruiser outfitters and hope to have it running this weekend. Then I need to fix a ground issue with the new wire harness. At that point I hope it's all forward momentum and no more re-do's :)

Oh. And I like the look of the new dash. This is one that Monroy (can't ever remember his user I'd ) found at a pick in pull for $30 bucks 6 years ago. He and I actually met when he traded this dash towards a set of springs I was selling. Anyhow, it does have to come off so I can redo the ground block on the drivers side. And that's the oldest giving his approval while his younger brother and a friend are hanging out in the barn.
