Hey does anyone have an aftermarket or custom rear bumper that they want to sell or trade for a stock one? I want a beefier one to protect my corners when it bottoms out, but I don't have any welding skills yet. Any ideas?

I've got a double tube one on a piggie I picked up last year, toooo dark for pics right now, I'll try and get them up tomorrow.

MAF used to have a sweet looking rear bumper for Piggies - anyone have any pics of that?

Here's a pic- but this one is not for sale. :)

I have an old MAF rear bumper that is sitting...lemme see if I can find a pic. I could use a stock bumper for sure.

EDIT: Here is a pic. The bumper is circa 1980's I think. Not much corner protection though. But it's out there if you want to trade!

Definitely! I think that is exactly what I've been looking for. I would love a IPOR setup, but can't afford it right now. I'll get you some pics of my rear stock bumper. It's in pretty good shape, but the driver's side end cap is smashed. The right side is fine and the bumper is solid. Could use a repaint. I'd be very interested in a trade if you are. Does the hitch come on it by any chance? You are in ATL? I'm in Charleston. I love your build by the way! Hit me back!

The most affordable option is to use part of your rear bumper and some 2x4" tube to replace the end caps, but then you still need that welder thingy. With a sledge hammer and a little force, a 2x4" piece fits in the original channel/ the center bumper piece. This gets angled towards the body for more clearance and is welded in place. The center section with the cross member is sturdy enough to handle most abuse.

Lucy,
how much movement do you get out of that tire carrier with a tire on it?

I've actually only had a tire on it for one day, a trip out to the dunes. I did not notice any movement or loosening of anything. I only had a 29-30" tire on it, but I did drive on miles of washboard and I got a little funky in the dunes. :)

It seems to work well, need more testing. I'm waiting until I finish up some work on the rear bumper before I end up having a spare on at all times...

We could Reproduce this one if you are interested.. It would require Cutting off the lower sections of your rear quarters, They are Probably Rusted out anyway ;)

Lou - What size are the tubes on the IPOR bumper? 2x3 for the swing arm and 2x4 for the bumper?

Not sure about the details but it's a stout bumper. Call IPOR, they'll box one up for you.

No tire on mine, but I have lots of corner protection :D
