One of the last mods that I did was put the 40 mirrors on my 55. I had them for a while, but finally got around to putting them on the day the pig was being picked up.

I tried the mirrors in the japanese position....they must have better eyes than me :)

Makes it hard to adjust your mirrors when driving...especially considering the home market

That's not too bad. Anything is better than the stockers.

I like 'em.

Are the two upper holes the same distance apart as the originals, or did you have to drill new ones? It would sure be nice to pull the mirrors in on narrow trails.

Looks Good! I put mine on a few years ago and love my location, also put some on another pig and the owner loves 'em too? I like the ability for them to fold, I broke quite a few stockers on the tight trails up here? Plus, they are fairly cheap, and you can buy just new mirror/housing if needed. Aaron

I like it. Seen another cruiser like that also somewhere.

Also this was the stock location for Japan pigs.

Howdy! Hate to hijack, but does this as show the phantom FJ56 Diesel? I cant' read all the details in the fine print. John

FJ56.... wouldnt that determin that it was using an "F" series motor thus meaning a petrol motor?

Yea, I spose it would. OK, so the 6 in 56 just means Barn Doors? I can't remember.

My understanding is the 'FJ56' designation refers to the changes in '75 that included the upgrade to a 2F and the other slight related body mods/changes (hood, maybe losing the wing window doors, I think). There may be other changes as well.

Similar to the FJ60 to FJ62 transformation...

Ooops, didn't see OinkOinker's post and I forgot to say, the other day I tried to adjust the pass. mirror position and it snapped off in my hand. I barely touched it. Oh well...

but its never stamped FJ56 on frames or vin plates, thats the strange part, they have FJ56 on paper but not anywhere else. i kinda think the FJ56 was for japanese market pigs only.
it would be neat to have someone in japan, look at a frame stamp on a pig and see if its FJ56, there must be at least one pig left alive in japan.

Hmmm, good point. I assume then, that FJ62's are all stamped FJ62 on the frame/VIN tag, right? I just figured people stuck to callin' 'em FJ55's because it was easier and the changes were so minor...

interesting about the 55 56 thing... But do the 40 mirrors bolt right onto the 55 door using the two exsisting bolt holes on top and adding one for the third hole on the 40 mirror, or is it a complete cut and weld job? What are the centers distance of the two top bolt holes on the 40 mirrors?
