IMO re the term relic, yall need to decide if its year or model or combination of both.
Us 70 series people run from 84-99 for the hj75 and 89-99 for the hzj75.
This has been in discussion since i first went back in 2015 :-)

i just go to have fun but for those that care about the "relic" there really should be clear cut models/Years.

Just a reminder, the longest production run of any land cruiser model, ever has been the 70 series. 84-Present.

40 series 1960–1984
50 series 1967-1980
60 Series 1980-1990
70 series 1984-Present
80 Series 1990-1997

If yall choose 1990, then 1990 80 series should count as should any with the land cruiser badge that meets the cutoff year.....
Or just say 40-60 series counts.....
Just be consistant.

Yours isn't a relic, but you should still go!!

*disclaimer; I don't run this event, but the year 1990 was originally picked specifically to exclude all 80s as "relics", since the 80 was introduced with the 1991 model year*

EDIT: See my follow-up post below. The 80 was introduced for the 1991 model year in the US, but in Japan it was introduced for the 1990 model year. TIL!!

For us old farts with bad backs… Where are the closest decent hotels? I’ve checked a few adjacent towns but they’re all 30 minute drives. Thx.

There are some air bnb's/cabins for rent in the area.

Or...maybe an XL-sized cot and a Megamat mattress! Those would probably total the same or less than 2 nights in a hotel, not even factoring in the drive time every day. But the allure of a private bathroom in a hotel is understandably strong. 🛀

I have found Albemarle to be 20-30 minute range from the main venue and there are several hotel options available. I will be getting a hotel room in Albemarle again for this Relic Run
 
I'll be there, hanging out and helping where needed. Although I'm not an official board member anymore, I love this event and can't wait to be part of the fun!

Merch is in process - gonna be the biggest Relic Run EVAR!!!!
