I will be attending for the first time this year. Arriving Thursday. Does anyone know if there are bathrooms available in the camping area, or is it a bring your own sort of situation?

Yes there is a bath house with porta potties positioned around the grounds. Being prepared is not a bad idea at camp or on the trail

Subject: First-timers coming to Relic Run! A few quick questions

Hi everyone!
My wife and I are so stoked to be heading to [Event Name] for the first time this year. We’re working on our logistics and had a few questions:
  1. Leash Rules: What’s the leash policy? Our pup is great with people but doesn’t do well with other dogs, so we’re wondering if "off-leash" roaming is common or if leashes are strictly enforced.
  2. Private Camping: Is there anywhere nearby to camp if we're looking for a bit more privacy (and willing to pay extra)?
  3. Cell Service: How do AT&T and Verizon hold up out there? We might need to check in with home occasionally.
  4. Friday Trails: When and where can we sign up for the Friday morning trail runs?
  5. Trail Info: Do you have any specs on the trails yet (difficulty ratings, expected duration, etc.)?
Can’t wait to see you all there!

Hey!

Glad you're coming to [Event Name]!

1. Our policy on pets is generally to be courteous to others and watch after all members of the family:

To be direct we don't explicitly have a leash policy as we haven't felt we needed one. People do always bring dogs and generally keep them close by but we can't promise they will all be on leashes all of that time and that has always worked out fine. If your dog is especially aggressive it might be best to keep them separated.

2. The area we have marked on the map as "quiet camping" is generally not too populated and as far as possible from the main hub of activity if you understandably want to be away from the denser camping closer to the pavilion. You could also camp in the Uwharrie National Forest proper and theoretically have more privacy but I believe the sites there are sometimes not that secluded, I haven't personally camped there so will let others chime in.
3. The cell service here has gotten a lot better in the past few years (enough that we take electronic payments now) but is not perfect, worst case if you need to phone home you could drive to the nearby El Dorado Output (gas station and country store) and probably have a better chance there.
4. We don't do formal sign up for trail rides as this is camping / hanging out event first but there will be plenty of people lining up friday morning to go on trail rides (and we do have predesignated trail lead volunteers this year). The advice we give is to talk to people (including us at the registration tent!) that are around and see who is going out, and find a group that is about the same level as you lining up!.
5. I haven't been out in Uwharrie in a while (and most of us probably haven't yet this year) so i'll defer to those that have for specifics but in general the trails range in difficulty but are ultimately not difficult and generally considered passable for any Land Cruiser with all terrains. @Rushing ?

looks like charcoal grills are allowed still (and the within 100 feet of a structure rule "may" apply to other stuff.. just thinking out loud here.

As a general note @Rushing pointed out that we are still under a state-wide burn ban at the moment that disallows any open fires, even fire pits. We'll keep an eye on it but this may mean no fires at the event this year unfortunately.
Can you clarify as I checked and there is no fire ban in that area?

BBRC has been notified and will not be bringing wood or solo stoves. Lets all work together on this and keep everyone and the land safe. Bring an extra jacket or blanket and call it good. We need to respect this for everyone.

thanks
Rob

If anyone wants it, here's a google maps link for the campground:

I'm coming and looking forward to seeing everyone at Relic. I will be there on Saturday but my 84 FJ60, AKA the Big Guy, will be there tonight driven with Dave Benke behind the wheel. A big thanks to Mr. Benke for getting my Landcruiser done in time for Relic. Also, a big thanks to everyone that suggested I get Dave to work on my rig at the Christmas Party in December.

Just curious, will there be a separate thread where everyone will post photos from this year’s event?
Thanks
