1. As many of you know, the Rendezvous Conspiracy has been burning the midnight oil working hard behind the scenes to make some big things happen in 2012.

We are proud to announce the SoCal Desert Rendezvous 2012

DATE: Friday and Saturday nights, March 23rd and 24th 2012

LOCATION:

TBA!

At this time here is what you need to know: There will be a set of coordinates (posted here soon) that you will need to go to. There, you will be met by a trusted team of Conspirators who will let you know what to do, and where to go, next.

When (If ) you arrive at the Main Camp you will be given the option of participating in the SoCal Desert Challenge on Saturday.

There will be a cleanup again this year as well and we are looking at a few other ideas to make this fun.

More information will be added to this first post - stand by for more info!

Important Rumors:
Rumors of T-shirts, stickers and a raffle this year after the cleanup...

Comm Plan:

Ham: 146.520 simplex calling
147.585 simplex for chit chat

CB: Ch 38 for calling

FRS for short range Ch 3 tone 8

The Vision:

1. No Fees: Come as you are!
2. Laid Back: No schedule other than the date.
3. Mountain Man Rendezvous meets Overland Meet and Greet.
4. Swap Meet: Bring things to trade or sell or barter (this is NOT a commercial event!).
5. Meet People: Network, maybe teach each other a few things and check out cool rigs.
6. Real Fireside Chat: With a real fire. Share food and beverages of your choice.
7. Desert Rendezvous Cleanup : We aim to pack out more than we pack in!

The Ground Rules:

1. Common Sense.
2. Respect for Others.
3. Self Sufficiency.
4. Tread Lightly.
5. Leave it better than the way we found it!
6. Speed limit in camp is 5 mph, strictly enforced for safety (kids, dogs). Make no dust.
7. Quiet time in camp is midnight.

- The intent is to be inclusive and promote max participation - this means family friendly, dog friendly (supervised/common sense), and we won't turn anyone away for AZ or NV plates so long as they bring firewood. (J/K)

- Please note that all trash collected during the Cleanup is the responsibility of the individual to remove; this is not a commercial event so dumpsters will NOT be provided. All trash collected must be packed out by the individual attendees and the area left spotless!

Anyone attending? I went last year, had a great time and met a lot of new expedition friends.

Hey Dan. I am planning on attending again. Depending on where it is located this year perhaps we can plan another trail run out to the site.

We're planning on attending if my time off request is granted.

Cool Sean. Let's try and make the trail run happen.

Are you bringing your smoker again?

I'm planning on being there again this year. There being an unknown at this point...

Weekend looks open and I'm dying to get out somewhere. Mind if I tag along as well?

Brent you're always welcome to join me on the trail(as is your trailer full of wood and Sputnik).:D

Let's see what the coordinates are and then come up with a game plan to meet up.

The smoker is defiantly coming! Just picked up a trailer so I will have more room now. We just need to figure out the menu. Ribs, tri-tip, pulled pork?????

Trailer is packed, plenty of wood in the rack and Sputnik is always available for a good campfire!!!

Sounds like a plan Dan. Thx.

I'm going to try and make it.. I'm waiting to hear back on my employment transfer to Arizona.

MMMMM....Pulled Pork. I did two 7.5 lbs pork butts a few weeks ago out in Borrego for an annual family event. This was on my mini tamale pot smoker and it came out great after a 15 hour smoke.

I'm thinking about bringing it out for the Rendezvous and cooking up some ribs.
