Picked up rear wheel center caps. Look legit in correct Toyota packaging but the clips extend passed the wheel that sits flush against he drum. Causing them to gap when the wheels are torqued to the lugs. Any insight?

Ahh - FJ60/2 wheel center caps. The most-poorly engineered part of the truck. That's just the way they sit. Don't miss the lack of lug wrench clearance inherent in the design, as well!

Big fork in the road today. Backup a week or two LTS auto performed a bunch of stuff I should have done, but I got anxious and I want joy now! They did a nice job setting the valves and timing, flushing and replacing all fluids, grease and inspect front to back with new drive belts.. the works. Cost me about $1,000 and their advice was to 1.) get into the transfer case to identify why they can wiggle the rear output shaft and 2.) change the rear main seal because I am leaking a good amount of oil. and, Of course its time to do the front axle seals. these all carried about $1,000/ea just to get in there before any real work could be done. Fair enough, but no thanks. After a week of thinking about it, I do want to show this cruiser some real love and I already know its got a great body, a presentable interior and a strong motor. I had quoted some work with Driven Automotive in Meridian. Therye another independent Toyota/Lexus++ shop and have rave reviews. I have to say Brian and Danielle are awesome!! After warming up to them I brought the cruiser in to share the love. Im looking at a $2,000 bill to get to the Rear main seal, oil pan gasket and output shaft bearing done. Realizing I was at a major cross roads of time and money and investing into hypothesis with no real guarantee I reached out to @DoubleNickels who gave me solid advice. Thanks man! So, Being a bonehead and not appreciating the value of a dollar I did not listen to his advice that was extremely generous and helpful by trusting the vehicle, live with its imperfections and bring it by cruiser night if I really need to make a repair. Ill certainly take you up on Cruiser night! but Im taking another leap of faith that these repairs will deliver me a solid daily driver, that I wont fear I am inflicting more damage by driving it. Plus I know myself, and I am not afraid to take something apart!, but the putting back together is another story. Just ask my wife. After that, I am going to become one with the cruiser and Ill do the knuckles and wiper seals (theyre not bad, but probably time) . Ive got brake lines and shocks incoming, and took a closer look at the muffler. Its a friggin Cherry Bomb with no tail pipe. lolololol. **Free Cherry bomb muffler first come first served.

Hah! I'm not sure I provided "Solid Advice", as much as lending perspective. We're all on our own path with different motivators. I myself am still a noob with such auto-repair... I've just had my 62 long enough to face many of the inherent problems you're bound to see (fuel pumps, fried ground connectors, 4WD shift solenoids, emissions demons...).

Really nice looking rig - excited to see it in person!
