o_OMan have been busy!

Dropped my middle daughter off at college, she took my Jetta while I’m basically replacing the whole front end of her 4Runner  had to cut out most of the lower control arm cam bolts. New Toyota ball joints, control arms, bushings, new cam bolts…What a pain.

That night we dropped my middle at college we Moved my oldest into a rental which required a full weekend of cleaning, painting? Ripping carpet. 2 days later she is getting transported on a helicopter to a hospital in Denver to get a pacemaker put in. She’s 21 and 36 weeks pregnant. o_O She and the baby are good and resting.

Yeah ready for calm and boring!!!

I got some cruiser therapy in. I had vibration starting so I went with the low hanging fruit. There was slop in the rear driveline. Slip a little loose, ujoint on axle end loose. Those only have 25k miles. Pinion a little loose too.
I had to drop the rear driveshaft to grease the joint on axle side and tighten the pinion nut ever so slightly. Yeah will need to re set it up again in the future. Will Probabaly plan to swap with the front diff. Test drive and all smooth again.

My drivers regulator all of a sudden got really sloppys. 1/8th -1/4” turn before anything happens so I’m thinking something is loose or shot. Pulling panel didn’t reveal a lot I’m guessing I’ll have to pull regulator and look better.

Extended breather on tcase popped loose and was plugged with dirt/muck. So cleaned that and reattached. That Probabaly pressured the seal/line. Oil levels seemed ok, but I still have that input seal to fix. I’m wondering if that’s been plugged awhile and pushed out that seal instead of the tcase seal since I have an equalizer hose?

Also started working from home. Less commute on the cruiser for sure. We have an old 1 room school house on our property renovated into a small bedroom living room cabin. Works perfect for work from home.

That's a scary situation with your daughter. Certainly will say a prayer for them. Glad that she and the baby are healthy.

Thanks we appreciate that for sure. Certainly was unexpected! Seems to be all good now. I don’t know the full details on life with a pacemaker, but seems like it should be fairly normal.

I need more boring cruiser work.

D00d, kind of shocked to hear of this, and wow! I can't imagine how terrified you must have been, just thinking how I would have felt if it was one of my boys. Hopefully it does not affect her lifestyle too much, as you say.

Oh, and congratulations, GRAMPS!! lol (and you were complaining of all the KITTENS! haha)😹

Here is hoping for speedy recovery for your oldest daughter. That is just terrible to go through.

Yeah she was about 3 hours away in the ER and we were told she was going to get transferred to Denver so we didn’t drive to her. Her heart rate was 27!!! Then it was a whole bunch of hurry and wait. Scary stuff but should be solved. Lots of drs when you are pregnant as well.

The kittens are mostly solved, we only have a couple left thankfully.

Yep, all is well In the end so just a little setback. She seems to be better everyday.

" Will Probabaly plan to swap with the front diff. "
First, I really hope for the best and wish you and your family good health, the steel parts are replaceable or fixable....

With regards to the above quote, will your rear 3rd member be a good fit for the front?
Is your rear diff a 9.5 inch crown gear?
Is the front a 8" one?
Are the carrier assy's the same?
I am probably missing something here, would appreciate the info
Thanks and best regards
Omri

Dang, good luck to both of your daughters (and you too)!

Thank you for the thoughts and perspective. Totally agree.

Yes, On my 88 both diffs are the 9.5” so they will swap fine. Also the ARBs will swap fine as well Becuase the rear is a full float. A good time to swap would be during a front/rear axle rebuild.

The front 8” came in 1990+ cruisers.

There are few things on earth that are more scary than having children with health issues. I truly hope your child’s issues are now a thing of the past.

Yep, only have my son left in the house. He’s 13 so…lol

Agreed. I said not more hospital until the baby’s coming !

Of course my son and I went mountain biking sunday and he totally ate it on the bike Park jump track section. Have it all on film lol. Sore hip and road rash he sucked it up and we rode for another hour or so. I was thinking oh here we go!

If it were me I’d Probabaly still be laying there. I hit all the same jumps and got tossed to the side on the same jump. Another dude after my son ate it a few mins after him the same way. At that point we were done jumping for the day

Today was just a part store run into town to get some bolts for the project on my daughters 4Runner. The wolfhound was too lazy to even stand in the back this trip, but he loves the softtop.

The bracket I made to hold the nuts on the bracket to tighten the steering rack.

When I was a kid my 2 cousins and I built a ramp out of concrete and plywood. One cousin and I jumped our bikes first and the result was fairly impressive (not quite Evil Knievel impressive but impressive none the less). The older cousin proclaimed that is jump would put ours to shame and got up a real head of steam. Once airbourne his front tire exited from the bike leaving nothing but the front forks. Once he quit sliding through the dirt his landing was scored a 10 out of 10. 😁

Are you gunning for reserved seats (with your name engraved on them) in the ER?:D

My daughter is on her own Insurance, but I shudder to think what an ER visit, 2 hour helicopter ride from a different state to another hospital, 3 days care 2 in ICU, high risk OB team, cardiologist, pacemaker surgery costs.

I think we are switching to chair exercises for senior citizens for family fun time 😂

I'm telling you - Sit and Be Fit! It is all the rage these days!!!

My opinion is, if you can fit one in a freeze-plug hole, do it. I put the external recirc one in and it's kind of in the way. I didn't think I could get one in a freeze-plug without pulling the engine though, just 'cause it's so tight in the engine bay. I'm trying to check my injection pump timing this week and will have to remove the coolant heater hoses to get the timing device to fit...nothing's easy.
