A bit disapointing to see the rust here. The owner is obviously happy with the situation as is. Perhaps I'm too pickey, which is easy to do when looking at pictures and it's not your own truck. Great work though, the owner obviously likes his sound, and then some.

the decision was made early on to do the mods to this truck but not to invest much into the actual sheet metal of the tub and fenders.
once this body rots off again then a replacement will be sourced and installed.
there is too much ... rot ... to deal with on this one plus the previous hands did a poor job of grafting the body on.
what we need to do is find a decent 70 shorty, LJ/KZJ/BJ/HZJ/PZJ, and do the LHD conversion correctly. then we can swap the modified guts and doors from this one onto that one and install.

i was shocked to see how bad that corner was and the painter never noticed nor did we. it looked pretty surface only till the screw driver came out.

The devil is in the details and the attention to detail in the wiring labels/ routing/ workmanship & quality is second to none. I speak from experience having designed amongst many things jig's for wiring harnesess used in HVAC equipment for the off-road & mass transit industry.

thanks for the compliments guys, appreciated.

now to the other fender, air cleaning system, welder wiring, air box mods, isolator, feed to the vacumm pump and wiring the actual engine.

time to mount the air drier system.
create the main mount
test assemble the unit to confirm clearence and accessability

final assembly of drier, blow off, pressure sensor, quick connect coupler ...
and warning lable, i also put some clear shrink wrap around the service indicator tag since it wasn't sticking and not even installed yet.

install
and
move on to the idle up control for the welding system.
since the wiring diagram is a bit fuzzy on location of the various wires i decided to color code the screws to the wires both for my benefit and that of the owner should he ever need to disassemble it.
getting an idea of where to mount the main unit ... :hhmm:

the swing outs, to finish up the rear skin for PC i need to install a couple more items.
one was a HD support to prevent rattling of the swingouts and to help support the weight of the tire.
this is the solution i came up with ...
Ryan did a nice job of it.

thanks for the kind words.
decades ago, i had been trying to make up an anti rattle pad on my 40 series. i had a couple different swing out retaining pads sitting on the shelf. i cut one down to what i wanted and it worked like a charm. ever since this idea has been very functional. plus i just like the looks of it. subtle and does the job very effectively.
i do think Ryan enjoys his job.

The way I look at it as long as all the body mounts are still strong and you have no holes in the tub an almost 30 year old CDN truck is doing pretty darn good... Just keep oiling!

I have followed this build from day one, even saw the truck in person at the beginning when it was brought to Wayne, in absolute shambles...

Amazing work man, seriously your a pro!
Every build you do has me in awe!
If I ever win the lottery my first call will be you man! lol

Cheers

thanks for the compliment Eric. if you ever want to go for a drive then come on up and take a look in person.
cheers
