totally agree. My headlights sucked and I was researching all kinds of options before I ran across that from Toyota. Work great now.
Me three, I wish I would have come across this years ago! I'm not sure of a better way to substantially improve the driving experience of a Land Cruiser with OEM parts for under $50??

Finally installed the Toyota/Koito kit and it's a nice, straight forward install.

I can confirm, the high beam indicator does not work, but if you plug a light back into the unused (drivers side socket) is functions properly. Obviously, I don't need the extra under hood lighting so I didn't want this to be permanent solution.

After reading everything here, I ran over to AutoZone and picked up an over the counter 194 LED bulb and the HBI works great!

Raining. Cripes. Always raining and flooding if I remember correctly.

That silver relay (or fuse, can't remember) mount on the pass inner fender in your first picture is really nice! Where did you find that?

Thanks! (Relay)

Honestly I cannot remember what it's from, its galvanized steel and has been rolling around my bolt bin for a long time, it worked out great!

I just drilled out the mounting holes a bit and trimmed about an inch off the end then touched it up with some cold galvanized spray paint.

Looks OEM my friend, nice work!

I'm amazed at the HBI thing. For some people a regular bulb works, for others an LED does the trick. Still for some people, like me, nothing works. I'm working on a solution for that but haven't had a ton of time for testing yet.

But, long story short, the Koitos are pretty great for $50.

That's too bad, make sure you document the solution on MUD for the greater good!
When I get it sorted out I will absolutely post about it!

My PO did the Koito upgrade. I had noticed my HBI did not work and had no idea why.
As far as I've been able to tell the HBI is on the ground side of the system and the switching that makes it operate is pretty slick, if a little confusing. Because it doesn't have both bulbs using it as a 12V return path it either won't function, or will be very dim. I think that's why LEDs work, because they need less current to work and they are lighting up with half the current as normal (since the Koito harness only plugs into one of the OEM H4 connectors). I tried a dummy plug for the empty OEM H4 connector a from company that specializes in lighting solutions and it gets my HBI to come on incredibly dim. Impossible to see in the daytime, hardly visible at night. I suspect it's a high wattage dummy load resistor, which is not necessarily the right value or the pinout is wrong.

Like I said, I'm working on it. Sorry to hijack the thread @Ian Crawford !

Finally, 70-Series 16's with 235/85/16 BFG KO2s are mounted, balanced and installed.

So those are about 32x9? They look great, and that size is intriguing.

Thanks! It's actually a common dually truck tire size.

The math works out to 1 31.7"taill x 9.25" wide, they look just right.
When you get a chance can you post a head-in shot to show the width?

Man, I'm glad to have read through this thread. I had no idea Trail Tailor made that C Channel fix. While my frame is off I will definitely be tending to that upgrade/fix.

Tremendous work especially with that rain gutter.

Finally got the truck out and got it muddy for the first time in too long! This was my first time in mud like this with the 32" KO2s, I was happy with their performance over the stock size KO2s I had before.

Had to remove the roof crossbars. Gravity proves too powerful and slid down into a dead tree. You can see the crossbar impact. Luckily no damage to the bars or rain gutter.
