I removed the outer 2 mounts on my '78 (and left them off) and have just run the 2 inner mounts for the last 25 years, like the '79s. You might consider this.

I did it to remove stress on the body filler applied in that area. Call me nuts, but that's what I did.

Today was welding in rear sill, work on midbed and dash radio cutout and temp gauge hole fixes.

It turned out ok, not great.

Looking good! It appears you left your knuckles behind the dashboard in the last photo - you might want to retrieve them.

Forums seem dead these days.

In addition to the many mystery holes....any idea why in the .... someone would go through the trouble of welding (crappy welding) shut the antenna holes....to redrill them on the passenger side?

Both my ‘76 and the ‘77 I had years ago had the antenna on the passenger side. (Factory)
 
Mine is a late '77 production '78 and the antenna is on the drivers side.
