Every day I learn something new about this trucks.

I wouldn't sweat the antenna location too much. I think I prefer it on the passenger side because its more out of the direct line of sight while driving.

So my guess is that antennas were a dealer option mount hence the variation.

I think radio antennas, like lockout hubs and air-conditioning, were all port or dealer installed, sometimes from Toyota kits, sometimes total aftermarket.

I would tend to agree, however...what about Ten radios (dealer option) and National radios (Toyota installed). I’m hunting for 78 Toyota ads and brochures to solve the mystery.
According to the Toyota manual, it is passenger side, look closely in some of them, you can see the aluminum stem.

The owner's manual shows things that are dealer installed (radio, hubs, etc) and things that weren't available in every market (vac shift T-Case.)

They tried to ship vehicles as stripped as possible to avoid import duties, then install options here. We were still installing AC, radios, cruise control, bumpers, etc on PU trucks & tercels at dealership in 1995

Sounds good to me. I know so little about the import process and what was/wasn’t factory installed.

I was under the assumption that “N” national radios were Toyota installed in Japan, and “Ten” radios were a dealer installed radio. This if you had a national radio it’s assumed that the factory also installed the antenna.

I’m also learning more about them, years later.

Thanks!

Yes, the two bolt holes that you've removed paint from on the inside of the sill are for the tank cover.

The oval hole is for the accelerator linkage. The rough hole above it is not stock.

Couple of stupid questions.

1. Are these holes in the door sill/rocker area for the fuel tank cover? (Top of the sill)

2. What is the proper (if any) diameter of this accelerator linkage hole? Mine is hacked out.

Thank you!
