This morning @under_psi came up to be a second set of eyes on it when we fired it up.

No spark at first. Turns out the DUI wire had come unplugged.

Once it fired he kept it going while I adjusted the timing then we set the cam. We were at 18 minutes in the cam burn and we ran it out of the 4 gallons of gas I put in.

I almost s*** myself when it died. No idea we burned that much gas in 1/2 hour

When is this beauty going back to Tally so I can go take a look at it in person?!

Well at 60mph that’s an mpg of 7.5.

Nicely done!

How are you liking the steering?

It’s either terrible or not working because I can’t feel anything. I’m sure something got unplugged or something when I tucked it all into the firewall.

Which brings me to the fact that I’ve burned out a bit on mechanical stuff so I thought I’d take the afternoon polishing this turd back up

I’ll start punching out the list after I put the shine back to it

I don't remember if I previously commented on the winch or not. If not PTO the only electric winch that should be found a FJ40 is the Warn 8274, and this NOS 8274 is the perfect compliment to this 40.

Yeah… when you can find one in decent shape! I cannot!

Keep looking, and if complete enough and rebuildable you can upgrade and improve upon it

One approach is to scan ads for old domestic trucks and 4x4 and if one has a 8274 contact the owner and ask if the winch can be purchased separately. I picked up one locally earlier this year for $75 unsure of internal condition but it was good. Had to buy a new Warn part or two, upgraded to 6.5 hp motor and Albright contactor and have a killer winch.

I worked on little stuff all afternoon. It’s frustration when it comes down to punching a list and there is nothing worth taking a picture of.

Electric PS issue was my fault. I did not tighten the main ground wire on the firewall and it was coming in and out. Had to hunt that down. Was the last thing I checked.

Leaks. Got a few. I’m snugging stuff up. Replacing some things. Crossing fingers.

I have to work my day job tomorrow and I’m supposed to go to Arkansas Thursday am. I for sure need the break but damn I’m on a roll. Hate to put it down.
