@70fj40 fair enough. I was trying to keep it specific to the 40's. I also dabble in Porsche's when I am cheating on the Land Cruiser's. The silver one is my favorite by far. It's a 2015 Turbo S. It had pretty much every available option and will definitely keep a smile on your face. The blue 2017 belonged to my ex. She built it to her taste. It's a nice car but no Turbo S - although it does have some nice interior features with the 2017 update. I have a 2020 992 Carrera S arriving mid-October that will replace the blue one.

Thanks! Definitely planning to drive it back. Have not given much consideration on the route but will try to keep it interesting. And Johnny Depp had some real hustle in that movie.Seeing all of that in a garage and the word ex made me think of the movie blow when Johnny Depps character in jail is told "26 months for murder..... I must meet your lawyer". Killer collection.
I enjoyed reading the story of your project so far. If you drive it home and need a pit stop on the way or a more scenic route Im just south of Pensacola in Gulf Breeze, Id love to check it out and talk cruisers.
Im having similar sounding issues with mine like you were describing before you sent it off. I was able to improve them some with non-ethanol gas and keeping it fresh every few months.
I have been thinking of a carb rebuild or the swap complete fix like your route. Time will tell for me but the results seem to be speaking for themselves with the swaps like you are doing. Everyone seems very pleased and not looking back once they are dialed in.
Looking forward to the updates

Hey I was reading the other thread linked.
Never had much of any luck with naval jelly. Check out molasses for rust, if you didn’t already know.
Cheers
Good progress, making nice, better!!!
What is the advantage to not removing the engine?
It’s probably appropriate to explain how the truck got where it’s at. I did not know @wngrog other than seeing his projects on Mud. We had never talked or exchanged messages. About 2 weeks ago I sent him a message introducing myself and the project. I did not even know if worked on anything other than his own trucks. At that time, I really just wanted to get the truck running better and I knew Nolen had some luck with the Sniper setups. Lucky for me, the yellow patina won him over and he agreed to tackle the project. It was at his shop within a week and after a quick look over we had an enormous parts list and the beginnings of a dismantled 40 series.Good progress, making nice, better!!!
