So.......I have been dealing with a few things on the truck - namely idle and throttle response issues. Did some back and forth with Rob Smith at Odd Iron and Justin at Redline Land Cruisers and ultimately purchased a complete kit from Justin at Redline. Basically, it’s everything needed to install the Sniper kit (less the Sniper EFI unit since that is already on my truck) on this FJ40, accommodate a high performance in-tank pump and also retain the factory air cleaner. New fuel lines, adapters, brackets, etc. We were planning to do some fall maintenance, baselining and fix some oil leaks so we can just add this to the list. So no more updates for a couple of months but be prepared for some nice upgrades.

Any updates on this?
Would like to know how that Redline kit worked out.
I have been reunited with one of my older rigs I restored a while ago. I have installed the sniper 2300 kit on it using the same adapter I used on yours, but I figured out a way to use an old Weber carb air cleaner adapter which seems to be working just fine.
Pics of your set-up would be nice!

@thecrazygreek the short answer is there is no update. The truck is just sitting in my warehouse. Oh what I would give to live in the NW with the plethora of cruiser shops. My guess is this truck will end up being shipped out west in the next week or two to a good friend for a little TLC.

Got back from a couple days in New Orleans to this beauty.

I can’t wait to jump into this one with both feet.

The Weenie 3 build has come to a sad end. I get to keep that one for a while to shake it down but all the real work is done.

This one, being a rescue and sell had a few items that will be addressed and some great bling added as well.

In the last 3 hours and 40-50 texts later we have a HUGE pile headed this way

City Racer @Racer65
49Tire @wct49
Mike @Cruiser Corps
@orangefj45 at Valley Hybrids
@lcwizard at 4Plus Products
@SMG for hardware
@Fourrunner for Cables
Redline provides the Sniper kit to get the OEM cleaner back in the mix

I even enlisted the Parts Guy formerly known as Beno into the party for some OEM items this truck really needs.

Can’t wait for this stuff to start rolling in

Looks like it's in great hands!!!
Looking forward to the transformation!!!

Ok was hoping I could find something that works as I would like to reinstall my stock air cleaner

you can make one out of Mr Gasket plastic adapters.

This is going to be a lot of fun! Very honored to having Beno providing an assist.

He learned that Cruisers are way more fun with a day-job

The adapter for the GMtbi would look very much the same but the top piece would have the reduced hole centered.
There are two different height valve covers, the 40 being taller. When I was building the air cleaner adapters I used the 60 series
as a template then later realized I needed an extension for the 40. It's been a while but off the top of my head, about 5/8~11/16" difference.
The adapter was, like the Redline, a two piece. I glued the pieces as an assembly

Had to drive to Oxford and back today for the day job, but I was able to dive into the tear down for a few hours when I got home.

First thing I did was extract this gold tooth and toss the round Chevy air cleaner in the garbage

when I flipped the isolator over it was black with exhaust soot. I hope that happened before at some point. It did not sound like it had and exhaust leak and the Remflex gasket looks new

The Redline Kit comes with a cool throttle cable bracket that works off the coon dick on the throttle cable. This one was heated and straightened for a loop cable design like I’ve used on my other snipers. Current setup was only getting 65% throttle so I’ll have to either hunt down a pedal that’s not modified or
Run with the way my FJ60 and FJ55 cables are done

I’ve never actually seen a oil filter this small.
I’ll be yanking the old fuel pump and installing a block off plate
