Yeah, flat fenders are ok.

Though if he offers me a plastic duck, it's over
Agreed. The only duck I have is one my daughter found on the ground when she was younger and didn't know about the offroad tribalism that divides Toyotas from Jeeps. She had heard about gifting ducks and thought it looked cute. I have a "big truck" so she gave it to me - it was very sweet of her at 9 years old. Now it sits in my shop. She's 12 and understands more about the sworn blood feud now, and is thoroughly on team Toyota.

So, dumb question about oil pressure. This replacement engine has had excellent indicated oil pressure since getting it, but yesterday, it has started to indicate low pressure at speed and returns to high pressure at low speed. This appears to be independent of rpms. My FJ55 used to do this to no apparent harm and I assume it is a flaw in the sending unit wiring bayonet attachment.

I'll throw a direct unit on it to check, but has anyone else experienced this with a 2F?

Bad ground, bad sending unit, debris in sending unit maybe?

one rubber duck was placed on my door handle and it seems my fj40 was allergic to the little thing. the next day my fj40 decided it wanted to start to over heat. Not sure what the issue is yet but I blame the duck. Flat fenders are more similar to a fj40 is than a modern jeep at least.

also I want a stout so bad!

Did a quick tire rotation on the road

Bought a $20 direct OPG and verified I had a pressure issue. While I was wondering what to do, noticed some new oil on the right side of the block. Traced it to the oil filter/pressure sensor adapter and found 3 of 4 loose bolts. Tightened said bolts and viola! Pressure issues went away.

Now I sing the song of my people again.....

Did about 3000 miles and am home again yesterday. Today I unloaded the rig and addressed a bunch of issues.

Ironically, I'd ordered the trans oil bypass line from @shipmag late last week. Since he's 2 hours away he asked if I'd like to pick it up and I told him to throw it in the mail. Ironically, I ended up driving past his place a couple days later unexpectedly so had to drain transmission oil and refill transfer case oil throughout the trip. The hose was waiting for me when I got home and it was a super easy install.

Yet again my wipers failed on me this trip, but I was able to finally fix it. The new wiper arms are blanks and the proper taper needs to be cut into them so they fit properly.

I also finished throwing on the other large tie rod end as the driver's side tire started to cup toward the end of the trip.

Overall I'm happy with where this rig is and am kind of wanting another project.

Hmmm....

I think one of the Classic Cruisers mechanics is eyeballing that Stout for his personal collection ... as if he needs a third one haha. Poncha Springs isn't that far from Saguache, so he was already aware of it when I told him.
I talked to Jesse and we just might cooperate on this. Every Stout rescued is a Good Thing.

I can’t wait to see where that goes

These cruisers are a work in progress. The tweeting one has to do all the time is a sign of love for these vintage classic rigs. You have to love them to own them. They are not for the faint at heart.

Monday I took my rig down to rural Tennessee to appear in my first feature film. Not a speaking role, but if released, I figure fairly prominently in two scenes.

The movie is about the last days of Confederate general Van Dorn. Really an intriguing story.

yeah I am thinking a new project soon too. Some sort of truck. maybe not a stout but every once in a while I see a 70s early 80s toyota truck that would be a worthy project for a good enough deal. maybe Somthing american like a f100 truck but another toyota would be good. I know the 20 - 22r engines like the back of my hand too.

What year cruiser did Van Dorn have?

😝
