You guys are way overthinking this, with this cross member And retaining the bellhousing mounts, this is a clean stout factory setup.

To be fair, this is the only rear mount. The factory rear bellhousing mount was just there as a guide for me to ensure I did not get way off track with the driveline.

I’ll let the Tig wizard look at your point about stress load and let him decide. He builds multi thousand HP race vehicles and airplanes and has a real good idea of how things work like that. A big washer would be easy and take me 10 minutes to swap out if he agrees with the assessment. Thanks for taking the time to explain your thoughts. I’ve learned long ago to listen to input here because it’s often well earned input.

After I sorted the crossmember I just did some small stuff that took time

I added all of the fluids to the driveline. Topped off the axles.

Got the short rod slave in place.

For some reason this rubber boot was gone and the joint was bone dry. Last minute oversight I’m sure. I added a boot and retorqued it

Yanked the header back off. The Tig Wizard did not like how close the #3 tube was to the Mini truck box so he’s going to properly clearance it. I ground the bolt down a bit. Also the tubes of the headers will be shortened a bit so we can modify the Y pipe for our use.

I then got all of the radiator hoses and clamps and bands installed with Toyota hoses. I don’t have enough 5/8” hose to get the system filled yet

And spring has sprung.

I got the rear buttoned up until the Wizard got the headers trimmed and polished and then the Y pipe trimmed and polished then I had to stop doing suspension stuff for exhaust apprentice stuff.

A little side by side. Dobinsons. More arch. Thinner springs. I personally think they are way softer than OME

It’s Reds birthday weekend so I spent the morning being the trophy husband I am (sarcasm)

I got to the shop at noon after putting out all that pine straw and mulch.

Was a bit tired for heavy work so I ended up installing the restored air l tube and knobs for the heater unit

They fit in 2 of the 3 AC holes. PowderKeg restored the knobs and duct for me

Then I broke out this tranny hump and commenced to making holes.

Once I got it marked I headed into the other shop for a hole saw and Cowboy was going nuts. Turned out she and a water snake were fighting. I took it out and again saved the day

So then I remembered there was something really goofy about the old tranny hump and that’s why I chose not to use it.

The goofy was my ignorance that JP had already dealt with the clearance by adding a
Raised section. It’s not quite perfect for the H55 but it’s a massive head start.

Learning as I go…..

My guess is JP @ClemsonCruiser only does something “goofy” out of necessity.

That's a pretty big snake for a cat to take on!

Poor snake, about as harmless as they get, I am biased as I love snakes..

They look way too much like Cottonmouths and we have lots of those. Anyway. Any snake that makes it inside a dwelling is gonna die. I leave them alone outside unless they are poisonous and in the house area

Piddling with small stuff this morning.

I put the Trail Tailor/Valley Hybrids shifter on the H55/split to see how well the hole on the hump lined up.

Well it didnt. Not even close but it used to have a twin stick deal so yeah.

1-800-TIG-WZRD will be on this after the exhaust….

Next….I decided to plumb the cooling system to check for leaks.

Nothing was leaking in the engine which is always a great thing and then I saw some coolant dripping way back where nothing could possibly be.

The damn heater core has a hole in it and it filled up the cab of the truck and was dripping out of a drain plug.

Fuuuuuuuuu I hate coolant messes.

For now I bypassed the heater core and will deal with it later. Time for Easter lunch.

After lunch I started bolting it back together and plugging in the wiring. Slow tedious non exciting stuff like bleeding the steering system takes patience but will pay off when it cranks up the first time.

Wiring. Wiring.

Looming.

Tucking.

Spal fan. Sniper. Koito H4s.

Lots of wires. This looks like chaos but it’s all where it’s supposed to be.

I pulled the plugs and spun the motor over today to get some oil in the right spots.

Measured the driveshafts for Tom Woods. Doing CVs this time. One, because the driveline angle is about 4* and the pinions are 0*. This will be a highway cruiser with the H55. I want it smooth as silk.
Two, I want the extra reach of the CV on the front shaft to clear the front crossmember.
This is the only cruiser I’ve ever built with basically the same length driveshafts.
