This just means there is hope for those POS's you and Eric own..........but only if ya' trailer them to Minnesota and talk Matt into doing 'em....:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

You question my skilz Grasshopper?

Matt I ain't, but I am qualified to wield more than a sharpened stick in the shop!
Really, Erik is the smart one in our crew of two.

That ought to horrify some of the folks whose trucks I've worked on;)

Couple hours on the lv tonight. I actually spent a good hour or 2 cleaning out my garage shop, wanted to get the lv out of the booth since I have other parts coming down the pipeline that I need to start painting in the next few days.

UPS man dropped off my window rubber I ordered from TLC. I had ordered a 6ft piece of window felt that they use on there lv's, but there was nothing in the tube :frown: Gotta call them tomorrow and get that taken care of.

To bad are options are limitted on that rubber....I was not impressed  It had a really poor finish to it, like someone went after it with a 4 1/2" grinder. It was also a little small and brittle.....I would have to say for $150 per side, if I was doing it again I would source something else. Needless to say, got it in should work I guess?

Thought I would bolt on a little bling tonight for fun :D OEM apron emblems, sweet! Also bolted on the new OEM bumper I have had for months sitting in a box, that things looks pretty cool. I also ordered the OEM license plate holder at the same time, more cheezy coolness....

Out of curiousity, does that license plate holder go on the passenger or drivers side? I have it bolted onto the drivers side, but there are also holes on the passenger side where it could bolt up?

Also got the wife involved again tonight....had her cleaning up the chrome stuff, getting ready to bolt that stuff back on. She was using a wire brush, scotchbrite pade and flitz polish, seems to work pretty good considering how rough looking some of those parts are.

I was wondering the same thing, that was looking like a sweet build.

Matt, your cruiser is amazing! I cannot wait to see the finished product. I know that a bunch of people have sent in certain parts for it, I wish I could contribute something for the build. I feel its the least I could do for all of the entertainment and inspiration this thread has provided me over the last year.

I love it!! Wife polishing cruiser parts in the kitchen!!
You are one lucky dude and I dont mean about the vehicle!!

Something else you might want to try on the polishing is Maas polishing compound. Works good on everything from alunimum to chrome and everything in between. I used it in the military on my brass and i used it on my Harley.

Matt

On my 55 it's on the passenger's side. What kind of plate are you gonna run? Vanity? On my '63 and '65, I have Year-of-Manufacture plates, basically you find a plate from back when they made them every year, with the year stamped on it. It has to be 'approved' by the state transportation department to ensure it's not a rusty POS, and that someone else isn't using the same number. It costs as much as vanity plates, which sucks. Classic plates are cheap, one-time registration fee, but you're not supposed to daily-drive those vehicles, parades only...

Few good hours on the lv tonight, even got the wife invovled again. :)

Had her fire up the sink and a scotchbrite pad and clean up the coolant and windshield wiper bottles. New S.S. bolts and got those installed again.

Bolted on a little more bling.....FJ55 mirrors, wife was involved on that one again also...

I hadn't run my green wire off the cruise control to the NSS and to ground, had to run a wire and run it through the NSS.

Popped in the fluid sprayers in the hood....bolted up the fuel filler neck again, had that unbolted for painting.

Blew apart the rear tailgate lever, actually came apart rather easily. When it quits raining I have a pile of small parts I need to blast and get into paint. Also ordered some 1/16" - 50A durometer rubber yesterday, should be here Friday. I plan on making new gaskets for the rear tailgate handle and all the door handles.

On another note....anyone got one of these, in a lot better condition they want to sell?

Windshield wiper fluid pump, don't quote me on the year, but should be 79 to 83 FJ40??

Mine has issues
