That is disappointing.

When that 45 left my place, what I suspected was the origial black license plate was inside the back of the driver seat. Was that still there?

The truck had been painted gold at some point. It looks like it was a pretty good paint job but of course, it was gold.

Tag......Yeah. Is that not sprayed over black?
Looks yellow under the black.

The fact that this cool OEM insulator is still in the truck is way cool. I’ll get it painted correctly and reinstall over some sound deadening.

The Peter Paul Mounds wrapper is OG for sure.

What’s that red color?

I thought those jack rod brackets (which are like my early ‘63, really mostly a ‘62) went the non-spring clip kind in mid-’63, but must not be. @whitey45 would know.

Seat belts should not be attached to the seats.

Are you redoing the seats? If so I’d like to see pics of the pads/springs/whatever are there.

Seats are going to @Cruiser Corps for a full rehab. I’ll ask him to document the steps

Edit. Here are pics of the 💩45 seats. They are wide open if that helps.

Spring clips are the same. It’s a 63

I spent the afternoon removing brackets and knobs and other items that are grossly over sprayed and am taking them to paint or powder depending on the item.

I took one of the door panels off so I can have my powder guy match that color so I can remove some items that have paint runs or the bolts used were grade zero hardware store stuff.

Pulling more off the firewall so I can get it clean and painted Dune beige

Another piece of the puzzle fell into place today.

Since we are boring the motor out to 4.6L and more than doubling the power output this truck came with, we thought it would be good to go with a modern cooling system to keep things cool.

I took a stock radiator over to a local radiator manufacturer I use for my LS swap radiators (Shameless Plug) and had them build something for this project.

Yes, we’re going electric, and for good reason.

We’ve got a high output alternator planned, so no reason not to take advantage and eliminate the parasitic drag from the fan & fan clutch. Plus, this HO SPAL brushless motor will only run as fast as needed to maintain temp. Based on past experience it will mostly be off or at minimum speed.

Low speed is where mechanical fans usually suffer, so we’ll be good there. At speed is usually a non-issue on a properly maintained system. Additionally, if we go with AC down the road, having an electric fan ensures maximum performance if John has to sit in traffic in the Florida heat.

That plate may not be as old as I thought. Seeing the yellow and teal paint underneath suggests it is probably a newer plate.

Whew. Long day for an old man.
I finished up tearing out the interior then moved to removing the steering and all the mounts.

Toyota rivers are from the devil.

God bless my Wuhon special plasma cutter though.

4 wire wheels later I think all the dune beige overspray is gone. As is 56 years of grime and oil and yuck.

I truly detest a black firewall too. All is off and this will be Lizard Skinned then I’ll paint it Dune Beige to match the truck.

Once @RustyNailJustin sends me an axle I’ll be forever removed from the dune beige overspray

Happy Easter all. Instead of dressing my beautiful family up and heading to church I’m out in the garage. Jesus knows we believe. 👊

I got up and plugged all the holes in the firewall and gave it another good wipe down and went to town with the first coat of Lizard Skin

It’s super humid today so it’s going to be a while between coats.

I’m picking up fenders and grill next week from the painter and I’ll leave him the gas tank, tranny hump and tool box cover for paint.

I’m just doing the bottom of the fuel tank. Any place you can see smooth paint like the hump and side of the tank towards the door I’m not spraying this texture.

I really don’t like textures at all but the acoustic and thermal properties of Lizard Skin make it 100% worth it. It’s not bed liner. Read up on it.

Brutal stripping with a wire wheel. Even when I wear full leather armor and a face shield I am picking those little needles out of my clothes and skin for days.

Solid work, looking good. 👍

Cheers

Kelly and I wire wheeled one of my 45s a few years ago. It sucked
