Seriously, we know our 80’s are slow so lets compare to see who’s got the fastest or slowest 80 out there.

Rules: State your vehicle’s year, engine, tire size, gears, and mods. Also perform this test on flat ground, record the ambient temperature and elevation to help in comparing other member’s trucks. Make note of whether or not the power shift button was used, if applicable. You should also try to perform this run in opposite directions to help compensate for elevation changes and wind. Speed needs to be calculated by a gps if your truck is running on non-stock sized tires/gears unless your odometer is accurate. With gas prices around $2.00 a gallon, this is a great time to test your truck.

Remember, always be safe and do not break any speed limits.

Here’s our tests results tonight:
92 FJ80 stock engine (3FE) with 33 x 10.5’s, stock gears, sliders, flat roof rack, Ironman bumper and 2 ½” lift, 12k pound winch, new catalytic converter, new louder (less restrictive?) muffler.
22 seconds on way slightly down hill
26 seconds opposite way slightly up hill
24 seconds Average.

I will be repeating this test after I break in the new 4.88 gears that are being installed this week.

94 FZJ80 stock engine (1FZ-FE) with 285 x 75’s, stock everything except a 2 ½” ironman lift.
15 seconds one way slightly down hill
17 seconds one way slightly up hill
16 seconds average.

For another comparison we tested our 99 LX 470 which is bone stock with 285 x 75’s
Roughly 12 seconds for both runs.

Top 5 Quickest for each motor will be updated accordingly. *engine performance mods present

I am really interested in learning the improvement when your gear change from 4.10 to 4:88s with 33" tires once you have the 0-60 time. I am debating the same gear swap with 33" tires. Also, once you re-gear could you note the RPM at 60 and let me know. Thanks.

19 seconds when I had my 3F, 33's manual transmission, extractors and carburettor powah

Will need to get one of my turbo 1HZ

1996 TRD Supercharged, methanol injection, 36" tires, 4.88 gears, 50 degrees. GPS shows 60 at a corrected 57.5 mph.

8.67 on the stopwatch. I need more hands and eyes to do this test lol. Ill try to do another run with video.

Wow that's a Huge difference between SC trucks one with meth injection and one without. Do you also have a smaller Pulley?? If not it looks like what I have been saying about high IAT with the SC might be right and it is pulling a bunch of timing on the supercharged truck without the meth injection. cool Get a video of you can

Im running a stock pulley on mine, premium fuel, and run base timing at 11 degrees. I shouldve tried this when I had both HEAVY bumpers off recently when it was in the body shop. I wonder what losing several hundred pounds of armor wouldve done :hmm:

Yeah I am really curious as to how much it will improve. I don't think it will be drastic, but if I can hold hills a 65 that would be awesome. I will definitely update with more information after the gears are broken in. That's the main reason this thread was made. I couldn't find any actual times on improvement with gears...just people saying it makes it feel a lot better on the highway etc.

My Cruiser is slow as hell, I have a 200 series and a 14' tundra for towing duty. I'll post up a 0-60 run for my tundra and 93' FZJ80 here soon. I bet my 93 will take at least twice as long as my tundra, worse for the 200. My 200 feels faster than my tundra.

I know it can go faster, my 200 has touched 130mph

2014 tundra was measured at 7.39 sec 0-60.

:hmm: I love this idea, I'm gonna go start a similar thread on Priuschat right now

LOL!

The prius feels faster if you ask me. Although I have been thinking about a faster DD but the Prius' quiet ride and reliability will be really hard to beat. Most of the taxies here in LA are switching from crown Vic to prius and I heard a lot of them are well over 300k by now.

Just timed my LX at sea level and 13.5 ish is the best I can get out of the old girl.......at sea level.

Prius is faster, big reason I turbo'd my truck was coming out of Albuquerque long Hill I couldn't hold my speed and was passed by a Prius. Prius will go 0-60 in 9.7-10.5 depending on model. Lol

They get flak for being wussy but they're actually pretty incredible machines. Mine has 273k and going strong on original traction battery. Great combo= Prius & an 80. Sorry for the minor hijack, @SUMMIT CRUISERS Jr FYI I gave you a shout out over on the Prius forum.
I'm gonna play along with my 80 once it has some fenders and a windshield again.

This is earth shattering so hold on to your asses

I let off the brake at 7 seconds, 60 mph at 25 seconds.... thats 18 seconds 0-60... Thats blistering. Oh an I am at 7500' above sea level.

0-65mph I guess with speedo correction, either way its 12 seconds.
Rear Mounted Turbo with 6 psi w/35's and all the weight in the world on this rig including a full tank at the time of really expensive fuel :)

Man, I don't even want to test mine. With 35s and lots of weight, my 5.7 2010 Sequoia is faster 0-100 than my 0-60.

Welp, talking about how fast or slow my '97 LC is, is simple - it's slow...
But I can report that after recently changing what I think was the original fuel filter at 170k, the truck has noticeably more power. Mostly in the 20 to 50 MPH range, which is really where it needed it most. Making getting on the highway a little less embarrassing, and annoying to other drivers.
I was hoping the change would produce more power, but wasn't really expecting anything. Which makes it all the more welcome. It really needed it.

*** edit. ***
Will redo as scanguage was not setup for 35s so inaccurate data

Lets see if this works.... First YouTube post

95 supercharged 1fz-fe 275k miles
F/r bumpers, sliders,skid plate,12k winch
315s (scan guage calibrated for them)
Stock 4.10 gears
200# of me 200# of gear full tank of gas no 2/3 row seats full length roof rack
Ems exhaust
~50 degrees
Elevation 82'

Ran both ways on the flattest stretch of road I could imagine. Video is of pass two but I hit record at the same time I hit the gas but was stopped on freeway and like murph said needed more hands and eyes. At 8 seconds on the vid im at 61 so ill say 9 for the sloppy start. Almost considered the 0-60 app for a buck but nah.
