First time poster but I've been lurking since I purchased this 2007 GX470 this past January.
The other day my shifter wouldnt release from the PARK position. I did some googling and none of the common symptoms of this issue are present.
My brake lights all work
I can start the car in PARK and...
I wanted a short throw but couldn't eat the price.
built this from two shift towers.
2wd r150 and 4wd r150
cut the socket off the 2wd.
cut the boot catch off the 4wd
weld them (i paid a guy cuz i don't do aluminium)
added 1 3/8" to the stick.
i had to open up the lower hole a little bit.
gravy.
Hey all,
After a decent amount of searching I still haven't seen a great answer. Other people with similar issues have talked about buying a different shifter boot. I put down deadener + closed cell foam + mass loaded vinyl in my rig which was a VERY noticeable improvement in noise. But...at...
Hi Folks,
Newbie here and my Haynes manual is still on its way....
For the last 25 years I've dreamt of owning an FJ or BJ and now I finally own one: a 1970 3-speed with original 1F engine. Fixed the horn and a signal light issue in the last couple of days but this one came up earlier this...
Hey All.
So last night i got home about 9pm, parked the cruiser in my driveway, woke up this morning got in, it fired up just as normal. I went to throw it into reverse and i noticed the shifter felt "oddly" fluid. Once in R i hit the gas and nothing. No matter where i mover the shift...
I was thinking this might be a pretty common issue but after doing a few searches online and in the forums, I didn't quickly find anyone with a similar problem. Forgive me if I'm overlooking it and feel free to link me.
I have an 80 series that suddenly started shifting from drive to neutral...
Nice Rubber Gear Shift Knob (not leather), thus no rips, tears or wear. Use your existing overdrive button and wiring (so you don't have to do it all over again), There is a crack where it is not visible easily, see pictures. This knob only for 93 to 97 floor shift automatics.
Shift knob is...
Have a used 80-series shifter and shifter cover from a 1997 FZJ80 (LHD). The shifter knob seems to be in decent shape. Comes as you see in the photos:
Asking $100 (or best offer) for both plus shipping from Cincinnati.

I don’t see this addressed anywhere. My lighter works but is loose because when I shift in to 3rd gear if I’m not careful, the shifter hits the lighter because it sticks out.
I have a 1983 fj60.
Is this a thing? Surprised no comments. Maybe mine is out of adjustment? Thanks for the...
Swapped from a442f to a440f, so need 7-position shifter like on pic. No metal part needed.
Basically, need two of these for two rigs, but would be happy if can find at least one. Anyone?

Guys, my daughter has our 99 4-Runner at college and was home recently for Christmas. I drove the vehicle after some normal maintenance and noticed the shifter lever was loose (front to back) when in any position. i.e. - in D you can move the indicator on the left of the shift all the way to N...
Well, I'm hopefully on the home stretch of getting this thing back together ('79 FJ40) and ran into a curious snag. When putting the transfer case shifter back in I thought it was pretty straight forward. There's only one way it can mount and it seemed to be a natural fit. My probelm though is...
Here’s a cheap upgrade that works.
I bought a TRD shifter for my the 4Runner Santa is bringing my son (which is totally bad @ss by the way - pic below). The color didn’t match the 4wd shifter on his truck.
So I tried it on my LC (my stock shifter was worn from my hand and looked bad). I...
I have a confession to make.
The currently available OEM h55 shifter knob from Toyota is this gray rubber one with an embossed ring.

I hate it.
It’s.....ugly.
I know there are great options from other vendors that replicate the four-speed style knobs from the...
Hey Guys,
I have been a tiny bit dormant on the forum but have been getting back into things as I start to work on my 98 LX470 with 375k miles on the clock.
I recently was replacing the center console and seat heater buttons, so I totally screwed the pooch and messed with the shift knob, and...
