Wife got a new mag the other day and showed me an ad in it. The ad is for Charleston SC with a 40 in it.
Southern Living is the mag.
rig looks like a 75 or 76 in nice shape.
Bought from PO and headlights, flashers, brakes and turn signals all work. Dash, and rear tail lights don’t work while ambulance doors are off. I know the ambulance doors must ground out the lights. Question is how do I ground correctly without ambulance doors. Obviously not experienced in...
I have not worked on these brakes for 30 years. So, I decided to fix it. Easy peasy right? I started on the passenger front. I could not get purchase on the adjuster notches with a screwdriver. I took it all apart and freed up the adjusters. I discovered the guy before me did not...
Had rust on bottom of door so cleaned it up, hit it with self etching primer, then Bondo and then thought to myself...opening and slamming all the time will probably make Bondo crack and fall out so painted over it w/ Herculiner which hopefully will hold it all together. Any thoughts?
Gents,
I had the infuriating discovery just now that a project 40 of mine was taken over the holiday weekend from next to our shop in Spicewood.
Looks like it was hooked up and hailed away.
Landlord said they didn’t have it removed, and I’m going to see about getting video from adjacent...
Picked up another project that I'm not ready for but couldn't resist. This one spent its life since new in the Tetons exploring local mountains and fishing holes. The owner apparently did not hesitate driving it to the ski hill in the winter either - Low miles but it needs a new back half tub...

Great winter project. I overheated it a few years ago and parked it in the garage. Think head is cracked. Selling the cruiser and all the parts I’ve accumulated for it, all together or nothing. Currently has the original drivetrain and fairey overdrive. Overdrive works fine, trans is hard to...
Howdy, mudders!
Need your guys’ help. Let me preface this thread by saying the 40 started just fine when I drove it into the garage 4 years ago. I took it all the way down to frame, sand blasted and went through it (except did not touch t case, or further into block than valve cover and side...
New in box auto meter gauges and custom cluster, $350. Aftermarket front seat frame kit, think it’s from overland worx but not sure, $250. New ruff stuff diff cover with bolts and drain plug, $175. Aftermarket roll bar, $100. Will ship on your dime, except the roll bar.
Not sure if this has been posted here, I'm usually in the 70 section, but this is a really cool video of the complete restoration of a 40 by what looks like a group of high school or college kids in Japan in what's called the Toyota Technical College, in Nagoya. I'm assuming this is a program...
Saw this cool old 40 today at Neilsons Garage in Cayucos. Looks like a great shop! I’ve been by the shop before and have noticed a few cruisers there. Waves looked great too at the Pier, California dreaming! Check out the guy on the other side going right, He got a good one!
Hello everyone,
I've been a lurker for about a year now as I've planned this project. I'm a college student in Portland, who has been obsessed with 40s since living in Bolivia while in high school. They're everywhere there and for a few years I planned on importing a couple (turns out people...
Hopefully this winter I will get a chance to recover my seats (and repaint the frames).
I’d like to go with something other than black, but the reality is I don’t keep a top on it and often park under an oak tree.
That being said, I’d like to see examples of what you’ve done, to help me...
