Don is asking $6000. Looks like it might be a FST. The shackles are even stock. Decent Camo paint, PTO winch, decent bestop, bench front seat, not a bunch of rust that I could see. He said he just redid the brakes and clutch and hasn't driven it much since. Sorry for the crappy pics. If you really want it, I could go take some more pics and maybe drive it.

I have a 1978 fj40 that I have loved for the last 6 years.
My 40 has about 138k on it. It has a new chevy 350 small block with roller rockers and a lot more. It has a power steering conversion and a 4 inch lift with stock steelies on 33x10.5 bfg AT's. Off road lights, sm465 tranny to stock xfercase via AA adapter. Original hardtop, jump seats, and no RUST!
It does have a few items that need fixing. There is a crack in the front windshield( I have new rubber surround), missing side steps, some play in the steering shaft, driver rear fender need paint, hole around xfer shifters needs boot. I can email many more pics upon request, or look in my album.

For Sale: Tried and true. This Cruiser is as proven a vehicle as any out there. It has been used for what it was built for. My wife and I have winter wheeled, explored and adventured solo in this thing all over the western USA and it has never once let us down. I even raced it in King Of The Hammers 2009 and finished! It is very capable and extremely reliable.
I tore it down January of 2011. I replaced all the Heim joints and bolts. Replaced the front axle shafts and joints. All new king pins and seals. All new axle seals. Built new rock sliders. Inspected and cleaned everything else.
It is very freshened up and ready to GET IT!

This truck has been in my family for about 20 years. My uncle bought it from a production company he worked for after they used it in the movie "Ernest Goes to Camp" After it's movie debut it sat in my uncles basement for 15 years peacefully rusting away.
3 long years ago I finally talked my uncle out of the truck and started the restoration.
Here's a list of things we have done to the cruiser:

Great truck / good body/ runs like excellent/ starts in cold -easily. Good daily driver and weekend 4Wheeler. A little time and $ could make this a top-notch truck.
Original straight 6 engine & carb. Top end redone in 2010 by Allbright 4x4 Chicago. Headers and new exhaust. 3 speed (column shift). 4x4 lo/hi works -activated with switch in truck (not lock-out hubs)
New clutch, master cylinder (new pads (not disc brakes) all around) and starter: 4 years ago.
Steering knuckles replaced 1 year ago.
Brake lines redone: 6 yrs ago.
New 2.5" spring shackles -greasable

I'm finally coming to the realization that I don't and won't have time for all my rigs, so this is the next one to go. I bought this about 8 years ago with 42k miles and now it's up to 55k. It has been one of the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned, but the list of deferred maintenance is getting longer each year, it seems, so hopefully I can find a buyer with the time to put a little tlc into it.
The good:
It has brand new Specter replacement upholstery on the front buckets.
CCOT best weatherstripping on all 4 doors a couple months ago (no more rattles)
CCOT headliner a couple months ago
Cleaned and re-sealed the cowl seam with 3M 2-part automotive seam sealer so it doesn't leak into the glovebox
OEM Toyota window channels...
I have lowered her to a new all time low price of 4400.00 if no one wants to pay that could use some sort of means to get it to ranch in MT if anyones goin that way. I just don't wanna drive it with gas prices the way they are it will cost well over 600 to drive it there and it will be a slow drive. I don't want to sell it but times got better for me then they got bad again so back on the market. I am in so cal if anyone wnats to test it out thanks.

Been looking for awhile but can't seem to find a FJ40 in reasonable distance of Washington DC. I live in NOVA and have lusted for far too long after an Fj. Anyone in a reasonable distance have/ know of a later model (post 77 or so but open to all suggestions) Fj that might be coming up for sale. Prefer a 2f and slightly modded but this is just preference. Doesn't need to be a show queen but solid is a must. Price sub 6k-ish. Get at me if you have any leads. thanks.
