Soooooooooooooooooo The factory steering wheel is just under $1,000 and cost is around $800.00 ish. If I pulled off having them recovered would anyone see a value in them for $400.00? or is just wrapping them with a $40 wrap satisfactory? They would be as NEW OEM and professionally done.

It takes 2-3 weeks to have one done so this could only work if it was on an exchange program.

There is only 3 colors yes?? LX tan, LC tan and gray.

I will be looking for some junk wheels for exchange.

Thoughts?

I believe James at Cruiserparts.net offers this service for $300, plus a refundable core charge of $100 for the wheel.

8-12 weeks.......Ouch, but I believe I can get all colors, I just dont know if its done in house or looks OE?

I buy my wheel skin for around 40 bucks and do it myself .. pretty happy with it .. but as maybe you know after 2 years it's looking ( just the look ) some wear ..

So I thought I will spend another 40 bucks and do the same job .. and take care of it for 2 or 3 more years ..

the wheelskin 40 dollar option works real well and looks almost stock IMO, for me there is no way I would spend that type of $ on steering wheel cover, but that's just me.......

I agree, but the market would be late model LC's and LX's I am sure.

Could someone please enlighten me about the wheelskin $40 option?

Wheelskins is a good cover. I used one on an Avalon steering wheel. It obviously won't look factory and it makes the wheel a little thicker, but it comes out real nice for the price.

Shane I have been wanting to have this done on the wifes but I WILL NOT deal with cruiserparts....... past issues.

Honeslty I would pay 200-300 for this.

If you need a gray one..... might be able to give you the wifes for a starter.

I would, but......... I would really like to buy a wheel and start these. If i got someones wheel and it was fawked up I would be out $$$ and $800 for a new one. Not a gamble I am willing to bet on.

BUT if perfect we can swap

Any chance on a shifter knob recover?
Good question, I need to ask and get a core from a donor truck.

how about the added wood combo?

Whats that?

Viagra = added wood.

I used the wheelskin on my 97 and liked it. Note that the 95+ models seem to have a thicker rim to start with, so speak with a rep carefully before ordering. Mine was a fight to get on but just the right amount of fight and the finished product was as tight and OEM looking as possible. Very happy for the price.

I did the Wheelskin, and I'd do it again before spending 8 to 10 times as much for a recovered wheel. Admittedly, the Wheelskin doesn't look as perfect as stock, but my vehicle is a DD and weekend trail rig. I don't have any intention of restoring it. Your option would be great for those who might want a perfectly restored 80. Good luck!

Three original colors actually.

93-94 black only.

95-97 grey or oak.

That's it.
