The coolant overflow bottle, being that we had to relocate it when installing the aux battery tray was taking up more space than I wanted. Additionally, it was looking worse for wear, so I decided to get a new one. Alas we could not track one down, so we picked up a 70 series 1HZ variant, which having received it, I think is much better than the 60 series. Its sleeker, and comes with 4 bolt holes for different mounting positions.

We also fabricated a bracket to mount the ARB compressor, for the air locker install later on down the road.

We also have a windshield washer bottle en route from @beno

Time for a small update.

Installed @reevesci supplied carpet kit. Very happy with the quality, fit, and finish. We had to cut the transmission and transfer case opening, and trim the sides down by the door, which we ended up doing by using the old carpet as a template.

Center console base painted

Installed

Next up was we finished up the winch mounting plate

The hawse fairlead will now be bolted through the bumper and into those two protruding tabs for added support

We also added gussets, as well as extra plating on the underside where the 4 winch bolts will go through

Painted

Winch installed

Very happy with how little we had to move out the bumper. I am guessing about 5" max.

Control box on the DS inner fender, just behind the aux battery tray.

H,

Carpet looks nice! I had to look twice at the overflow bottle... I thought it was a NLA headlight washer bottle... I was about to get on a plane. HA!

More than welcome to come sir! I am sure we can find lots of items that are NLA. Just yesterday, after 4 days of searching their networks, the local Toyota dealer found the last remaining left piece of a two piece OEM rear bumper in KSA that I needed. It was hidden at some small village sub-dealer's warehouse sitting on the shelf unsold and perhaps already consigned as dead stock. The last recorded sale of that part number here was in 2004. I could not believe it. I was seriously contemplating switching to the one piece rear bumper as a last resort.

A few more goodies came in the mail.

A set of used gray inner door handles from @mel lowe

Fuse box and USB port from Blue Sea via Amazon

Lastly for today, the upholsterer came back having just finished a 80 series front seat for me to check the finishing before proceeding with the rest of the seats. It came out way nicer than I was expecting. Kind of makes up for all the work we had to put in to trying to figure out how to make the 80 seats fit in the 62 using a mix match of brackets.

The rest of the seats should be in by Tues/Wed

(Seat belt receiver will be removed. Bolt thread is completely worn!)

@boozewz Seeing you doing this in KSA is impressive. I know the upholstery specialists and available Toyota parts were some of the advants when building your LC over there. Didn't know you could get your hands on toyota diesel engine parts over there. You are bringing back memories of my old '82 60 Red exterior and brown interior when I was in KSA. Keep it up.

Time for an update!

Some packages came in. First the front inner fender aprons courtesy of @reevesci As usual, the man delivers a quality product. Came with clips and fit in the OEM holes

Also @mel lowe found me a used fuse box cover. Will get this painted up gray and installed.

@beno delivered the washer bottle along with cap, along with the OEM diff lock connectors and the wires, as we will attempt to run the ARB lockers using the OEM switch

Hit the junkyard a few weeks ago and scored a used tool kit and bottle jack. I suspect its from an 80 series.

Gave them a good scrub down.

Got them cleaned up somewhat nicely

Also found space to install @slcfj62 front headlight wiring harness. This thing is sweet and very well built. Believe it or not, space now in the engine bay is getting tight, what with the fuel filter relocation, the ARB compressor, the Warn control box, and worst of all, the second battery tray.

We also fabbed up a bracket to hold the Blue Sea fuse box.

Had the second piece of the rear bumper installed. It was the last one in KSA!

Got the seats back from the upholsters and wrapped them nicely, and installed. Front seats are 80 series, with manual levers, and rear is the original that came in the 62

Will post better close ups of the finishing once we get the wraps off.

I am having stainless steel door panels cut for me, and in doing that the doors will lose the inner window cleaner weatherstrip. So I picked up one piece from Toyota for the 70 series to test fit.

The piece comes too long for the 62 doors, so measured and cut to fit

Test fitting. They fit perfectly, but we could not get the clips to seat.

The clips are square shaped.

The catch holes on the inner window panels are round.

Hmm....So close yet so far. After some thinking, we removed the clips.

Slapped on some strong glue that works well with rubbers

And voila. Seals really nicely, and fits snugly. Its as if the 60 series doors have the same inner window widths as the 70 series.

Close up.

Really happy with how this turned out. Will be ordering the weatherstrip for the remaining 3 doors.

Parting shot for today. Almost there. Still have door and cargo panels coming in. Need to wire up the dual batteries, lights, and winch, and get the SpeedHut speedo gauge wired in. Got the front license plate mounted, and thats pretty much the only place we could put it. I'm ok with it. Until I get a ticket for obstructing the indicator.

So awesome! I just purchased some 75 series strips from @beno to try. What 70 series did you get them from?

I believe I looked up the 2014/15 79 pickup part number.

Let us know how yours come out. If they have the round shaped clips I'll be kicking myself:mad:

I'll check when I get home later today and report back!

I am jealous but also curious how much $$ invested in already in this project?

Ok so I checked the 75 series strips when I got home and they have the same clips as your 79 series strips.

Thought I would experiment with the clips as I had nothing to lose. I ground down the clip barbs to fit in the round holes (about 4.5mm wide):

It snapped in very nicely and securely:

I need to finish grinding down the rest to see how the strip actually fits with the supplied clips. However, @goldchaser did the same swap in his HJ61 and used the clips so there is hope. :)
