Yeah, you may wish you had one of the bars that were removed for the drop basket for location... as not all bike racks are long enough to span it. the work around is moving the bike rack outside of the basket, or forward/behind it, or putting the bike rack up on bolt-on cross bars above it.
Hey, that was like 12 years ago! you just need bike racks that sit on top of the bars, then clamp them down. Older Yakima stuff seems to work well for this.
also, welcome to Utah
Might be late too late on this one but I would not recommend that. Locitite is literally the root cause of any/all "nuts fell into the roof" stories that you hear about. Specifically one bolt gets removed, then the other gets twisted, and the path of least resistance is the whole nut carrier...
I'm signed up for 3D on Thursday, leading Wipeout Hill again on Friday... open at this point Saturday. Looking forward to seeing more of the 200 crew here, come track me down at vendor night if you don't see me elsewhere, I'm camping on top of the 40 trailer at the arena so should be easy to...
May be too late here, but I'm not sure I'd be in a panic going back to the dealer tbh. Are you seatbelts wet? Any wetness in the headliner? water marks? If no then shoot if it's a great truck otherwise I'd be inclined to run it. So it did one road trip with the holes exposed, and one...
@RandyDaytona thanks so much for posting up! and so glad the trip went well and you're happy with everything. also thank you and thanks to the other guys for posting up, really appreciate the feedback on the experience as well, that means a lot you guys made my day. 🥰
Geoff you are correct...
Odd that any thread goes over a month with no replies.. but that may speak to the utter disservice Lexus did with those silly flush mount rails on the 460's and newer 570's... IMHO at least. Not a lot of aftermarket support either, for stuff that clamps to them somehow. I tried for a bit...
holy thread bump!
yes regearing definitely helps with acceleration... think of it like your mountain bike, if you click down a few gears it's easier to get off the line, up the hill, etc.
You literally have to pry it out with a screwdriver... the button is integrated with more than that latch on the wall, so pressing the button won't pop it free like with the more simple latch of the LC version.
Yes it's usually pretty even, though towards the end it will drop on the passenger side a little bit.. so fold your mirrors in, then err to the DS a little bit towards the end, you'll be good. I did this last year in a 200, with an awning on the side of the rack... never touched anything. 👍
You may get a little rubbing at the back of the front wheel wells... quite possible all you need to do is massage a little plastic, would only be at full lock, and while backing up. That was my experience at least.
You'll also lose at least 2mpg, compared to a more stock sized tire. They...
1. Sometimes I'll take a bolt and poke it up from the bottom, through the accessory, then stack my washers onto it and slide it into the rack plate. Then squeeze them together, allow the inverted bolt to drop out, then put a bolt in from the top, while holding all of the washers in position...
The point is the new shiny truck makes folk nostalgic for the good ol days, and how they don't make them like they used to. And then they go looking for an old one, which drives up demand. Which is what happened with Broncos, and what may happen again to the 40 series. I agree the 250 will...
I'm wondering how your logic will translate to FJ40 prices, if at all. Consider the Ford Bronco Sport had to be a slap in the face to die hard early Bronco guys, right? LC250 is to Bronco Sport, as LC300 is to Bronco Badlands... at least in my head. And yet, you can't get near a nicely...
