Partway through an install. What are these pins for? Did I miss a step?

Those pins are only for the I style key shank. If your key shank/blade has wings making it kinda like the shape of a "t" then there's no need for the pins.

Wow, that's so weird. Maybe some of those black oxide screws and better coated than others. I've never had a screw show any of that.

Yeah, I'll be at HIH and definitely come by the YotaMD canopy and get some screws. Happy to replace those. The stainless is probably just a better option. Those should never rust (unless I somehow get a really terrible batch that's not actually stainless).

All four of my black screws are rusty too and I live in a fairly dry climate. Maybe sweat in pockets causing it?

I haven't been able to find the other screws yet.

That's weird. If it's all screws then it makes me think it's just how those black oxide screws will react. The 12mm and 8mm actually come from different vendors so it seems some use scenarios just don't mesh well with that coating.

If you can't find the screws shoot me a PM with your email. I'll send you a $0 invoice for just some screws or a discount code if you want pickup an entire spare set of hardware. Just let me know what you'd like.

Dang it! So close with my '99 LC.

Has anyone sanded down their keyfobs and painted them? I think it would look badass to hand finish the plastic parts and make them smooth (remove the milling marks) and paint to match the body color of your truck, paint and clear. I know Porsche, Ferrari, etc. offers this and seems like a ton of people pay the extra money to paint match their keyfobs.

I need to try this with the cerakote clears. I've been hesitant because I know the clears won't be as durable, but perhaps folks would be willing to sacrifice some durability for that awesome finish.

You can smooth out the finish on plastic 3D printed parts done by the FDM process by dipping them temporarily in Acetone and removing quickly.

None of the YotaMD fobs are FDM. It's too rough. I use all multijet fusion printing so the layer lines on the current revs should be all but invisible. No sanding needed!

The clear is the key though. You'd need to use some sort of ceramic coating. Either Cerakote or one of their competitors.

Fyi, not all FDM printed parts can be smoothed with acetone. The acetone smoothing is for ABS

Thanks for the heads up. One of our interns showed me the acetone smoothing trick but I didn't bother to ask what materials it worked for. I guess we're running ABS in our FDM machines.

Here's a custom back for the high mileage winner from HIH9. The color will be a surprise for the winner (per his request). Solidworks splines can be so nice when they do what you want them to.

In the image below I think there are a total of 4 straight lines. All the rest are curved, just slightly.

Just a plug for the YotaMD key fob replacement. They are outstanding!
