Winched work also .. so now I really don't know what it does.. I will have to trace the wiring on the thing.

It might be just a switch to isolate the two batteries. The wire gauge getting to the switch seems to be pretty thick (low gauge number) which is why MUD members guessed either battery wire or winch wire.

The precise way to find out would be following the wires coming to a from the switch as you have mentioned.

A quick test you could do (assuming that your truck is 24V), is to flip the switch (and perhaps remove the key to be sure is "off") and then measure the Volts on the two batteries with a multimeter. If my guess is correct, then you should measure only 12V on the system.

Hope this makes sense!

OK , I was sure it was one of these... I turned and pulled the red key out and ..........

the winch still worked......

and the truck still started.............

all items in the truck seem to work fine....

I guess I need to put a volt meter on it next ..

Well after looking in the second battery tray , there is another ground with battery terminal completely by passed so the disconnect key is not even wired in anymore..

I cant seem to get anything other then drive way shots for now....

We are hoping that spring has sprung in the south.... time for a bath...

all cleaned up now .....

I have always liked the top saying Land Cruiser where you can read it. The PO had blacked the letters so I touched them up with a permanent marker.

Just need to get it dirty now !!!

I fitted split rear seats from a LJ70 in my '74. same type of floor latch. Slightly better spec than the bench seat. My 2 seats have 3 point seat belts. Lap seat belts are illegal in Europe.

cool , but only 12 likes.... I am feeling a little under appreciated.. I will have to check it out...

So what do we think, should I tint all the windows ? summer is coming here in the south. Does anyone recommend a tint option ? I have looked a tons of photos and I am not sure what looks best.

Mine has aftermarket tint and I DO NOT like it one bit. I am going to get rid of it as soon as I can. It is too hard for me to see safely out the left side when I am making RH turns.

^^ how dark are they ? I was thinking for mine either 50% which is pretty light or 35% which is getting dark but still legal here in Ga. I agree , I dont want to block out too much light but want to keep some of the heat out also.

35% for the front, 50% on the rear? Should still be able to see alright.

Not all that dark. But the tint is scratched from sliding the windows open and that does not help either. I guess if it was a light tint and you never opend the windows you would be OK.

Cool, only 12 likes, no one likes to see a cruiser esp 73/74 on the back of a tray truck, its unbelievable, it can't be true, nah must be photoshopped, those 12 likes would've been jeep owners, such a rare sight they can't believe their eyes

OK so I had some time and decided to start looking for a place to mount by 24 to 12 drop down to run accessories from the back. So I decided to look under the center console.

and luck me under is clean and ready for stuff. But then I figured I would start digging as the PO said he had 24 to 12. My radio is 12v and the sig lighter is 12v , so if figured maybe the PO did just a tap off one battery, but I had not been able to confirm. Decided to pull out the glove box.

and look what started to peak out.

And it turned out to be:

Anyway , that shiny block there is a 24 to 12v drop down. installed correctly by the PO as far as I can tell.
