We have at least 2 BJ73 and 1 BJ70 , that I know of and are active on mud.

Well , after finally driving Rojo over 1,000 km , I felt it was time to do a little clean up. While the the wife and kids were busy I ended up spending the entire day cleaning and painting over areas to avoid any rust.

Here is the back area pretty clean for a 1986.... In order to pull back the mat I needed to undo this trim part..

Then I found these things on the floor, which for me confirms that at some point here was rear seats in Rojo.

Placed on the floor , where a swing out leg would be to hold a small jump seat.

I went ahead and sanded some spots and cleaned up a few small areas...

pretty clean , but I am sure one day I will put some bed liner inside or something.

Did you use a particular product on the air box or was it simply elbow grease?

I sanded the top of the box with a wire wheel , then sand paper, then steel wool. Then I primed with rustolum auto primer and then coated it with rustolum black paint. Then I cleaned the rubber part with simple green and armerall. Next , I am going to replace the cross pipe with something that looks good.

So much for my paper towel and Windex theory. : )

How many does that make in the Atlanta area now?

We have at least 2 BJ73 and 1 BJ70 , that I know of and are active on mud.

I have two NA spec BJ70s plus a JDM spec BJ71 for parts (which my 2nd BJ70 is in serious need for).
I recall a 3rd BJ70 which the owner had at ACC for work.

I know of an additional JDM spec BJ71 (as I recall) in the north east metro area, but the owner has not been a regular on mud nor in the TLCA community so I don't know his current status.

I am confident that there are more out there in the metro area, but I have no data to prove how much higher the tally is.

Brian and Mike at ACC may know of additional trucks/owners due to their shop, plus Peter is probably maintaining more in his shop (up in Norcross) because that is where I encountered owner of the JDM truck.

nice to have a parking deck now at work and spring time.... I am glad both trucks fit inside.

Well as lame as it is I finally put Rojo in 4 wheel drive H and Low... I just wish I was actually off roading. Everything seem to work and the 4x4 light on the dash lit up sort of with a weak green light.

I don't see a road anywhere in that photograph. :)

Well I was bummed out as I was headed to GSMTR this year and ended up going to funeral instead (wife's aunt) so I have been bummed all weekend so decided to do some more clean up work on Rojo. I have been wiping down the inside with simple green cleaning the soot off the inside and 25 years of dirt. Then I figured I would remove the spare tire and inspect for any kind of rust. I was pleased to find none.

I did clean and paint a few small areas to reduce any issues in the future.
