Those are anti-inversion shackles... But not installed as they were designed to.

Yes, the shackles will get flipped and set correctly by them or me. I went to do it a few weeks ago and could not budge the lug nuts as they were put on by superman or something.

Peterb we need a build thread and some wheeling pictures

Finally went to get my Rojo back and well , she was not quite ready . seems that she is leaking fuel from around the fuel primer pump now. I understand that this is common when pumping but is it supposed to stop leaking once primed ? I have read many threads on this issue and it seems many replace with the Bosch pump part. From my understanding this should fit right on along with the check value / spring mated on bottom. Correct ?

Correct. The BOSCH pump is a direct replacement for the factory primer pump. I installed one in my BJ70 and haven't had any problems with it. I actually like it better than the factory one as it is a one simple step in order to prime the fuel system.

Hope this helps!

great , thanks looks like that is what my plan will be...

Well I finally got Rojo back and running. I cant say she is running better , which is a little bit of a disappointment. But at least she is base lined, new fuel filter, oil filter, fuel pump plunger, all fluids changed trans to diffs.. She even got a little clean up treatment here is a before and after.

next on the list when I can afford it will be front axle service and air box clean and powder coat. I should have my first real outing this weekend exploring. :steer:

Yes the leak was with the OEM fuel primer pump and was replaced with a BOSCH pump but looks kind of small so I think will order another one to have on tap. I am also going to look for a good VW repair shop that works on small diesel engines and get to know them. O - this is going to be a fun adventure with this truck but I am still enjoying every minute of it.

OK wise men , I had my rear diff oil changed and they optioned me not to put in LSD oil / lube back in to see if that would be ok. Was this a good idea or should I add some. I am hearing a little more nose form the rear axle a speed above 40mph then I did before.

What is the thought on this ?

It is LSD in the rear and I had a reputable land cruiser shop change it. They did not comment on the condition of the fluid but normally would if really bad looking.

Yes , full float.. The shop said that the LSD might work better because it would have less slip, but at the sametime I dont want it to wear pre mature.

So Add the LSD lube ?

work best .. ? no chance ..

without the LSD oil friction additives your LSD disc pack will worn out faster then will work less effective .. ( Mr. aren't really effective tho ..)

thanks , I will add the lube tomorrow...

bloody hell, was gett'n set for an adventure , as much as one can have on the east coast of USA, and my new charger genius G7200 was blank (gone bad) and batteries discharged. Rojo would not start. Crap ! I ended up spending the day pissing with the batteries and finally having to buy a new one. I replaced the main number 1 battery and Rojo stated right up. However , I can not tell if my number two is the problem or not. Will the truck (24v) start with one good battery and one half crap? I might be buying another tomorrow to go ahead and have two of the same batteries in the truck.
