Since Sat 12/3 is a work day and then we need to cook our chili afterwards, I am offering my services to go to the Barn before the party to cut and split all the wood. I am local so I can do it on Sat 11/26, Sun 11/27 or any day before the party. I heat my home with wood so my wood splitting muscles are in shape. I don't know exactly where the Barn driveway is on River Rd but I can follow good directions. Let me know if you'd like the wood cut and split ahead of time.

Kurt

Here you go Kurt! Don't worry about splitting all the wood by yourself. We will have an army there on Friday and Saturday.

Got 4 lbs of bacon and 2 dozen eggs

I will not be there for breakfast on Sunday, gotta work the part time job at 5 as the meat man :)

Anyone want to cornbread? I'm not sure I have a pan to do it? I do have a cast iron skillet?

I think I know what you mean in that last line... I was thinking of making some cornbread during the day on Saturday, too. Depends on my schedule before I depart Friday and available cooler room.

wife is glad to make some Chili so count me in!

I looked up cornbreading on Urban Dictionary.

No thanks... I'm good.

Ha!
That's similar to the reason my Yankee self gets squeamish anytime someone down here asks if I want to play Corn Hole.

Right there with you Jim, first time I heard it mentioned here (the south) Heather said my head spun around like the girl in the exorcist. No thank you I'll pass.

Don't blame us southerners! I cringe when they talk about playing Cornhole too. We grew up throwing bean bags.

I will be bringing a chili as well. Have some ground bison to go in it.

Y'all are what we call carpetbaggers (the traditional meaning, I have no idea how the urban dictionary might define it), upsetting the peace, tranquility, and innocence of the South. Polluting the picturesque Dixie with such tomfoolery like 1-minute rice, Jersey Shore, and the internet. Never-mind, it was Al Gore (the laughing stock of TN) who invented the internet. Now excuse me while I drift off to the sounds of Elvis singing Dixieland.

car·pet·bag·ger
ˈkärpətˌbaɡər/
noun
derogatory
  1. a political candidate who seeks election in an area where they have no local connections.
    • historical
(in the US) a person from the northern states who went to the South after the Civil War to profit from the Reconstruction.
    • a person perceived as an unscrupulous opportunist.
"the organization is rife with carpetbaggers"
I've always understood the definition to be the historical one, listed above. Even applied to modern day I am far from a carpet bagger as I am just a poor working stiff. Being a northerner in the south I hear it all about Yankee this and that. Fact is, I chose to move here and establish a life, those calling me derogatory terms simply due to where my parents lived when I was born, I pretty much don't even bother to respond due to evident ignorance exhibited by making the statement in the first place. If said in jest, as it often is among friends, I generally respond with "Ah, the education shows huh?" :)

We will bring banana pudding and make about 2 dozen muffins for breakfast.
What's the status on plates, forks/spoons, napkins, etc?

If its a better fit for you, that changes everything. You actually qualify as refugee status...a naturalized Southerner. The best response should be, "No, I wasn't born in the South, but I got here as quick as I could".

P.S. edit: Carpetbagger, of course, all in jest, absolutely nothing derogatory intended

Proper and historically correct definition Stan. The cute names us Southerners have for folks from the north are about equal to the idea northerners have that we in the south didn't get our first pair of shoes until we were 12 or so. Ignorance knows no boundaries!

......

We're good on plates, bowls, F/K/S and napkins. PLEASE don't bring any napkins. I probably have 1000+ of them from prior events wasting space in my storage room.

A reminder: The club does NOT provide beverages of any kind, or cups.

Since there is so much chili, I will bring crackers and shredded cheddar cheese. I will also bring Red Solo Cups. Not sure if there is a consensus on what everyone likes to drink, but I will bring a gallon of sweet tea and lemonade as well.

I'm late to the party, been on 3 vacations the past 18 days, haven't been on mud at all.

That said, what can I bring? Other than the 3 sweet floor jacks for whoever wants them and awesome dirty Santa gifts?
