Something I thought about today is maybe making some braces for the front diff mounts. I have head they can be weak especially with the power and torque of the v8.

Iv been pondering this idea for a few weeks now ... to do either a full tank or two half tanks ... for extra fuel or fresh water. .. trying to decide if aluminum or plastic is the best way to go ... iv got a local customer who does vacuum molding plastics ... they make fish kayaks and it's a much cheaper process that injection molding. ...
There is also a pretty big liability in selling fuel tanks that I'm not sure I wanna mess with but "water tanks" or "aux tanks" I'm not too worried about if you catch my drift
I'll be re installING my front and rear diffs this week I'll take a look ... a rear diff/axle guard skid is on my list as well. .. haven't seen anyone mention it yet

Just to second some of the comments on here and confirm items that I would be in the market for:
A hidden winch mount is a "just take my money" item. I looked at TexGX's build on ExPo many times and love his hidden winch, not to mention the rear tire carrier (which is a maybe down the road item for me). Also, the KDSS sliders are a must have item - a minimal but sturdy version would be my pick.
My thought process on upgrades is myopically focused on the weight to function ratio (and balancing the stock look) given my constraints and preferences - the discussion of aluminum vs steel plates was actually a discussion I had in my own head and am glad to see other people had the similar thoughts. If anyone has a list of what should be ripped out of the GX to save weight...maybe I should start a separate thread on that.

That spare tire fuel tank is essentially what I have been looking for. I bet it wouldn't be that hard to retro fit one to a GX. Hmmm...
They make on for the FJ: ARB, Man-a-Fre which I bet could be fitted directly to the GX. The armored Man-a-Fre looks pretty sweet, but $1800 for the kit is spendy, hence my interest 
Wow a lot of great ideas here!! I would be interested in some interior gear mounts, aux fuel or water, roof rack and some other oddball items. I know @THeGeNTLeMaN personally and have seen his work first hand, that being said I have full confidence in anything he builds... And would not mind being a guinea pig for some products haha

I'm sad. I don't have much patience and purchased bud builts hidden winch for 4th gen 4Runner before you talked about making yours.
Yeah, that sucks. I'm going over next Friday to get it fitted.

What I meant was, I didn't realize you were gonna build so soon. I knew you were thinking about building it but I was thinking it would take months to develop and test. My winch is sitting in my garage and I was getting antsy. Patience is a virtue still in development.

Plus a dual battery tray would be sweet to sell
Returning it is not a bad idea! Probably worth doing for the amount of headache I could save.

Lol I'm just giving you a hard time and I'm sure you would be just fine with the bud built and I'm not gonna pull any of their business away from them this early in the game ... but the fit and function is just questionable on the gx at this point for bud builts mount ... the call is up to you ... I'd say it can't hurt to try it before returning it to see if it fits just the record
