Just wanted to thank the 80 community for their continued support of Window Rockets!

9 months of sales. Window Rockets are in every corner of the world. Window Rocket reliability has been excellent. Full transparency- There were 3 that went out early on with assembly defects. One had an actual defect in use after 3 months. All replaced immediately, analyzed upon return and process upgrades implemented to prevent future issues.

Approximately a dozen users have had trouble with install or poor/bad performance after install that I've worked through with them. I wanted to touch on these issues and put some troubleshooting information here.

I've gotten alot of praise for the simplicity and speed of install, but a few have had challenges with it. If the window rocket plug doesn't click right into place with gentle force DO NOT FORCE IT. Two things can be happening here-

1- The plug is upside down. Align the notch in the plug with the protruding key in the socket and try again.

2- Has your cruiser been through a full restoration or had very thorough sound deadening installed? Double check that the relay block under the kick panel hasn't been installed UPSIDE DOWN. Compare the orientation of the components with the pictures in the instructions.

Was your 80 series built in Venezuela? Before you install the Window Rocket, remove the old relay per the instructions and check the part number on the relay. It should be a Denso 90987-02004 or equivalent. If the part number is something else that does not cross over there's a good chance your 80 series was assembled using a relay with a different pinout. Contact me and I will walk you through re-pinning the plug so it works properly. This is also something we can do here before you purchase.

So you put the Window Rocket in and now your windows suck worse than they did before!??! Feel free to submit your page long obscenity filled email through the contact form on Powertrain-integration.com. Once you've done that, and you've received my heartfelt apology email, get your hands on a voltage testing meter with a good battery and I'll have you test voltages in two places, but here's the tricky part- I'll need you do it with a helper to run one of the windows while you test. Basically, we can determine if the Window Rocket is at fault here or if your vehicle's wiring is the culprit. So far, 8 out of 8 times, the vehicle wiring is the issue and I can help you with a fix for that- Everyone has been VERY satisfied with window function after some wiring mods, but I will also take the Window Rocket back if you aren't interested in modifying the wiring.

Thanks again!

Dustin

Dustin, kudos for a job very well done.

This thing is the best! Huge improvement on my 91. Just bought another 80 series (a 96) and likely going to buy one for as well.

Ordered mine yesterday. After reading this post I would have paid double for the product. The way you are handling your product development and after-the-sale is amazing. Thank you for taking this on!

Thanks for the order and the kind words!

I am surprised we are post #387 before someone asked about either a MUD discount or a group buy.

Let me preface my statement by saying this: I am not bashing the discount request (hell I believe we all like saving money when we can) but providing some feedback as to why I don't believe it will happen.

I think I have said it previously but Dustin is providing a fairly niche product to our community and has done his homework in the design and fielding (with continued improvement and feedback). IMO his price is fair and his customer service has been outstanding not to mention his interaction with this post.

I placed my order earlier today!

I already asked for it in post #42

Soon after PIP first chimed in, he actually discounted the regular price by a reasonable amount.

I still paid full price as I got my order in before the discount, but knowing what I know now, I would gladly pay even more for the results I've gotten.

Great plug-n-play product with great personalized service

You just don't get that nowadays

Installed the Window Rocket on my 91 and dang the difference is incredible! Worth the price and easy install. Before installing it, I replaced the window rubber channels with aftermarket replacements and that improved the windows a little but the back windows still would not go up. After install, the back ones go up all the way. The two front windows race up like a new car.

I really appreciate your feedback!

One thing that I have to consider is costs of everything have gone up quite a bit since Window Rockets came about. I lowered pricing after a short time, but I have not offered much in the way of discounts.

My focus has been on taking care of customers, keeping up with demand, continuously improving the assembly process, quality and shipping. Add in new product development as well.

Yesterday, I met with Jerry and Allen, the owners of Amfor Electronics. Their company has built the majority of alternator, start and regulator tester machines used in auto parts stores since 1961. They also built all the wiring harnesses for Kubota, some for Freightliner and others. They are closing their operation after all these years for the financial toll of tariffs. I asked what they thought I could improve about the Window Rockets and what equipment they might have available. Great guys- They loved the product and were incredibly insightful with each of them having 40+ years in automotive wiring harness building.

I'll be eliminating 3 of 12 crimps and all soldering from Window Rocket assembly. We will now be using a cutting edge Schunk Ultrasonic wire splicing machine to weld all the copper connections. Amfor used to make some wiring harnesses sub assemblies for Toyota. Almost inconceivably, they had a massive stockpile of some of the EXACT connector terminals we use in the Window Rocket plug except theirs weren't made by TE. Theirs were made in Japan by Sumitomo. Additionally, I purchased the genuine Sumitomo applicator and production press to run them. I will also be employing a Molex press and tooling to improve speed and consistency in the rest of the crimps in the product.

This represents a sizable investment in the product and I believe it's worth it.

Thank you all so much for the continued support!

Dustin

I'd give real money to have one of the test units they didn't ship, before they close their doors.

Their product lines and associated inventory have new owners already.

The niche they served does not have many players. Their competitors were also their friends- They arranged for their products and support to continue on before ceasing operations.

Figures. I'm always a day late and a dollar short.

I'm still working on the project; it's taken a hiatus while I get my business up and running.
