Window Rocket - who’s tried it?

I'm sorry you didn't get a response to your email- I haven't answered every non-order related email lately, I need to improve that.

This is what I know right now-

IF your 80 does not have ABS brakes, the soon to be released non-ABS LHD 80 series kit will fit perfectly, with plenty of clearance for any style clutch pedal.

However,

I have put my hands on several LHD 80 series clutch pedal sets and each one is different from the other. The one pedal set I own fits fine with the ABS window Rocket mounted up. Even with standoffs installed, but the two other pedal assemblies I've looked at are totally different and will not clear the Window Rocket.

If you have a LHD stickshift 80 series with ABS brakes I don't have a solution for you at this time unless you remove your ABS computer.
Hi PIP, I added some extra info on my Nov 1st post. Any options you see in the short future for my 1994 LHD stick shift with ABS?

The LHD w/manual transmission option is now shipping.

Thanks!

It's a neat bit of kit all packaged cleanly like that, but it's ultimately just a 15v buck converter and a bosch style automotive relay... like $80 of parts all together that anyone could wire in themselves. Y'all that want custom versions can build one in about 20mins, less if you use a wire crimper.

If you can build a better product and sell it for less- I will fully support you in doing so!

I can't give you the answers though. And I'll caution ya- You're off track a bit. You'll need actual time measuring and testing stuff and I think it would probably help to re-read this thread a few times and pay attention to the stuff I wrote about making the plugs.

Also- You'll need to wait until September 2026 to buy some of the terminals to assemble these. I'm kind of a planner type of guy and I noticed that one of the TE terminals had the potential to sell out. So I bought all that exist in the entire world from every supplier there is so we don't have to worry about that.

In other news- I'm shopping for a 98-02 100 series for testing and product development. When I get one I'll see if we can come up with Hundy version of the Rocket since I get a few emails a week about them.

Also- International buyers- I've been shipping these USPS International Express. This can take anywhere from 5 days to a month and USPS shipping to Spain has been especially problematic. I can ship DHL, but it's more expensive.

For those outside the US- Is DHL reliable for you when buying from the USA?

Thanks for the support everyone!

I've got enough work on my plate to sell, you've got no competition from me. I just thought it was funny people asking for custom versions for X and Y reason... like take it apart folks, it's just off the shelf parts. As for the connector likely going NLA (**** TE they do this a lot now), I'd just hard wire the thing for my own LC, it's no showpiece.

This was brought up earlier in this thread.

Nothings going NLA. Just regular post 2020 supply chain stuff.

@PIP this is an AWESOME product.

I’m one of the oddballs – left-hand drive 1997 HDJ80 manual transmission with ABS. The windows absolutely rip up and down now- I just haven’t figured out where to stash the unit. I’m thinking immediately to the left of the steering column.

@PIP - does the unit get hot/can I wrap this in some Toyota open cell phone from the interior noise reduction kit? I’m afraid it’s going to bang around and be all noisy under the dash.

I’m half tempted to extend the wires 3 feet and hide it behind the clock in the center of the dash.

The intention of the remote mount version is that you zip tie it tightly to something out of the way of rubbing or banging on anything.

The module doesn't get hot- You only use power windows for a few seconds at a time.

I know….i just haven’t found a good place to zip tie it. Yet.

The zip ties you sent are bomber, BTW.

A quality product. My windows still get bogged down a bit when it is cold but this is a big improvement over status quo.

Update: the module tucks in nicely next to the steering column. I haven’t zip tied it in place yet. It seems to be happy and quiet right where it is. I’ll drive like this for a while and then report back if it needs to change locations.

I'm going to need to find a different location for when I buy one too, as the usual mounting point on my RHD, is exactly where the LPG ecu is mounted. For now, the LPG is staying installed, I may decide to remove it down the track, but hoping there's somewhere else I can mount the window rocket.
