Prime time to change fuel filter and the pesky heater hose if you haven’t already. Could also check valve lash and see if everything is still in spec

Also distributor cap is all you’ll need which is chillin in a box waiting to go out the door
Cool. Fuel filter is on the way from the dealer along with gaskets. The fuel system will be completely new thanks to your big fuel kit parts.

Glad I ordered those ignition parts from you. LOL

I need to research how to check valve lash.

Straining my used degreaser from my Super High-Tech Parts Cleaner so I can reuse it. Yes, it does work. It’s better with coffee filters but I ran out so I’m using shop towels.

After. Look at the sludge the paper towels took out. Nasty. Degreaser is good to reuse.

My gauge pod arrived all the way from New Zealand. It said it was for 91-98 80 series steering column but it doesn’t fit my steering column. My 1997 steering column trim pieces are a bit more flat, so there is an awkward round gap.

Are earlier year steering columns more rounded?

Either way, it’s not usable because the adhesive tape doesn’t even close the gap, and I feel it’s blocking the view of my cluster too much (see next pic).

Seem like a better idea to just go A Pillar and move my ham radio somewhere else.

Johnny - better get off your butt and make another A pillar 3-gauge pod haha :steer:

Is this entire rats nest under the upper intake manifold all to do with EGR??? All these parts and hoses are brittle as a hell.

IMG_5780.webp

While I’m waiting for my intake to soak in the Super High-Tech Parts Cleaner (I’m going to trademark that), I decided to do something useful.

Pulled the lower pan and drilled the holes. Pulling the pan was harder.

I used a step bit for the 9/16” hole. I used my cobalt bits for the others but I’m not done with those yet. I only had up to 15/64” so I ordered a 17/64” cobalt bit to finish those so I can tap them. I used Rapid Tap oil and went super slow RPM. The bits all cut like cheese. Easy.

Little more progress today.

IMG_5790.webp

Intake manifold primed and painted.

IMG_5787.webp

Dropped some bits off for Cerakote.

IMG_5786.webp

Sanded, rust converted, re-sanded, primed, re-sanded, re-primed…

IMG_5791.webp

…and painted the air box cover.

IMG_5789.webp

Media blasted these exhaust bits.

Heat shields turned out awesome. Used VHT Flame Proof paint and primer.

While I’m waiting for the Cerakote parts to get done I thought I’d tackle the fuel stuff.

No idea how to do any of this. Gonna figure it out.

I believe what we have here are (top, left to right) a wiring kit for the new fuel pump, new injectors with sumitomo adapters, a fuel pump with screen kit, and a fuel pressure regulator?

I don’t see any instructions for the pump or regulator.

I think I’ll start with the injectors. Those are probably a bit more obvious.
